About the role

About the role :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer (Oracle SQL) to join our Reinsurance IT team. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with industry knowledge and a minimum of 10 years of experience with Oracle SQL language, using Toad for Oracle and / or PL / SQL.

The Senior Developer will be responsible for assisting with production support issues, month-end processes, and error handling procedures.

What you'll do here :

• Perform analyses of system and coding needs to identify the problems encountered and propose solutions including program specifications.
• Translate requirements into technical specifications / software components.
• Develop and maintain Oracle SQL queries and scripts for data analysis and reporting.
• Support and guide the project team in development activities to ensure the quality of the code delivered while meeting project deadlines.
• Write unit and integration tests for each function in which development is required.
• Participate in the implementation of regression testing strategies to improve the stability of the application components.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production support issues related to reinsurance processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth month-end processes.
• Implement error handling mechanisms to improve system reliability and performance.
• Provide support and maintenance (level 1) for the application and resolve complex anomalies.
• Must be open to perform user acceptance testing tasks.

What you bring to the table :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience working with Oracle SQL language, using Toad for Oracle and / or PL / SQL.
• Strong understanding of reinsurance processes and industry standards.
• Insurance background (a must).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• P&C insurance knowledge required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
• Can work in a team.
• Bilingualism is considered an asset (French and English) - For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
