Chief Technology & Security Officer

Overview

The Chief Technology & Security Officer (CTSO) at CIRA reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of CIRA’s Executive Leadership Team. The CTSO is responsible for setting and advancing the organization’s enterprise technology and security strategy in alignment with CIRA’s mission, growth objectives, and public-interest mandate.

The CTSO provides strategic leadership across enterprise infrastructure, internal platforms and tooling, enterprise security, service delivery and corporate IT. This role is accountable for defining the future direction of CIRA’s internal technology environment, including the evolution of the base technology platforms, the enterprise architecture roadmap, and the organization’s approach to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Operating within a federated model where engineering resources sit within business units, the CTSO directly leads and manages CIRA’s Information Technology, Security, Networking, and Infrastructure teams, while influencing technology practices across the broader organization. The CTSO leads through a combination of direct accountability, partnership, and clarity of standards rather than end-to-end delivery ownership for all engineering functions. Success in this role depends on close alignment with business unit leaders, a strong connection to enterprise strategy, and the ability to establish standards and guardrails that enable teams to move faster, more securely, and with greater consistency.

The CTSO works closely with leaders across Registry Services, Cyber DNS and Business Operations to ensure technology decisions actively enable business priorities while supporting scalability, resilience, and long-term sustainability.
