Working as a Residential Care Worker at RIVERCITY INCLUSION
Celebrating it's 60th year, The Campbell River and District Association for Community Living (CRADACL) is responsible for the operation of several permanent residential services in Campbell River, Oyster River, and Comox.
All of the homes have unique characteristics but share a caring, supportive environment to help residents achieve their optimum level of independence.
Our residents are adults, living with developmental disabilities.
The Residential Care Worker works as a member of a team responsible for assisting the residents with activities of daily living and to provide opportunities to promote independence and self-esteem.
The Residential Care Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that will increase the resident’s independence and social skills.
As the residential group homes are open all hours every day of the week, the hours of work for the position may include weekend and evening shifts The typical shifts are;
7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm and nightshift (awake) 11pm-7am.
- Hours vary up to 40 hrs / week with the opportunity to apply for permanent positions.
- Casuals must be available for weekend, evening, holiday and short notice shifts.
As our Residential Care Worker is working within the person's home we are looking for caring, compassionate, respectful individuals who are passionate about supporting others.
REQUIREMENTS TO BEGIN PROGRAM ORIENTATIONS
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License (Class 4 Driver's License will be required upon 90 days of hire)
- First Aid and CPR
- Covid-19 vaccination certificate / secured exemption (as per the recent Public Health Order),
- Negative TB test results
- Criminal Record Check
- Physicians Approval of Health
- Food Safe Certification
Upon successful recruitment and selection process we will discuss how to obtain these.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field is beneficial but not essential.
- Three to six months prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities is an asset, full training will be given.
- Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and complex care needs.
- Has enthusiasm and energy to be a contributing team member.
- Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.
