Senior Platform Engineer - Product Infrastructure

Location : Ottawa, Canada (Hybrid - 3 days in office)
Reports to : VP of Infrastructure and Information Security
We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to Support Syncore, our flagship SaaS platform serving promotional product distributors in North America. This is a product infrastructure role, focused on the platform services and software infrastructure that powers Syncore.
We operate a Windows-centric, on-premises environment, with a long-term strategy to migrate to cloud (Microsoft Azure). You will manage the Windows Server ecosystem, database infrastructure, and supporting services that ensure Syncore is secure, available, and performant for our partners. This role is critical to maintaining operational excellence while shaping our cloud future.
The ideal candidate :

- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Are comfortable participating in an on-call rotation for production support.
- Have experience working in Agile environments alongside DevOps and Engineering teams.
- Have a working knowledge of ITIL / ITSM processes, particularly Incident Management and Problem Management.
In this role you will :
Install, configure, and maintain highly available Windows Server environments including IIS, Active Directory, and Group Policy.Manage Microsoft SQL Server including replication, performance tuning, auditing, backup, and recovery.Administer supporting services such as Elasticsearch, Redis, and other platform components.Own storage infrastructure (SAN) and backup strategies, ensuring data integrity and recoverability.Develop and execute disaster recovery plans and failover procedures.Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity using established metrics; proactively address issues before they impact customers.Respond to and resolve platform-related outages as part of the on-call rotation.Harden and secure platform services in collaboration with the security team.Develop and maintain documentation for platform configurations, backup procedures, and operational runbooks.Collaborate with the Senior Infrastructure Engineer on shared infrastructure such as networking and hardware.Partner with DevOps and Engineering teams to support deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps), automations and production operations.Maintain accurate documentation for platform configurations, backup procedures, and operational runbooks.Stay current on platform technologies and contribute to the organization's cloud migration strategy.Join an out-of-hours / on-call schedule with response times defined by priority and severity ratings.This role does not manage corporate IT, employee devices, internal helpdesk functions, or end-user support. The focus is entirely on product infrastructure.As Senior Platform Engineer, you bring with you :
Deep expertise in Windows Server administration, including IIS, Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.Strong SQL Server skills : installation, configuration, replication, performance tuning, backup, and recovery.Nice to have experience with Elasticsearch, Redis, or similar data / caching technologies.Familiarity with SAN storage administration and backup technologies (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, or similar).Understanding of disaster recovery planning and execution.Scripting skills (PowerShell, SQL) for automation and operational tasks.Ability to diagnose and resolve complex platform and performance issues under pressure.Strong documentation habits and a commitment to knowledge sharing.Key qualifications :
7–10 years of experience in IT / Product infrastructure, with a focus on Windows Server and SQL Server.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, a related field, or equivalent work experience.Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, Azure Administrator) preferred.Experience supporting SaaS or software development organizations is strongly preferred.Familiarity with operational monitoring tools such as DataDog and SQL Sentry is a bonus.Why Facilisgroup?
