Job Title : Lead Hardware Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Lead Hardware Engineer to join our expanding team in Toronto. Reporting to the Director of Product & Hardware, this role is crucial in overseeing the development lifecycle of our hardware product suite.
You will lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers, combining hands-on engineering with team leadership. Your expertise and practical design skills will drive the performance of our products and engineering team.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead hardware development from concept to production, ensuring products meet customer needs.
Collaborate with Firmware and Software teams to deliver robust product designs.
Guide new products into production, ensuring high-quality and cost-e,ective manufacturing.
Work closely with the Product Team to develop design specifications based on product requirements.
Navigate products through testing and certification processes.
Mentor team members on engineering best practices.
Plan day-to-day activities for the Hardware team as part of bi-weekly sprint planning, ensuring projects stay on track and are delivered on time and to specification.
Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
At least 6 years of experience in electronics design.
Previous experience managing a team of at least two direct reports.
Proven track record of delivering complex electronic designs from concept to production.
High proficiency with hardware design tools such as Altium Designer and Fusion 360.
Some experience with embedded development.
Strong project management skills, with a history of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Proficiency with engineering project tools such as Jira and Git.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges.
Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
