New Afton Mine
Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.
About the Role
Schedule : 7 on, 7 off, alternating days and nights
Position Reports To : Mobile Maintenance Supervisors
Position Overview :
Heavy Duty Mechanics at New Afton are placed on one of four crews, working as a team to maximize mobile equipment availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile mining equipment on surface and underground
- Perform quality critical asset management and maintenance
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Provide input on equipment maintenance strategy and improvement opportunities
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Heavy Duty Mechanic Red Seal Interprovincial Certificate
- Experience working on underground mining equipment
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Demonstrate leadership in safety
- Demonstrate a strong drive to learn new skills
- Possess a willingness to take on progressively more responsibilities as they grow and develop with the company
Other Requirements
Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including :
- Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
- Provide proof of a valid driver’s license
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
- Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position is between $104,000.00 to $118,119.40. A competitive salary, performance bonus plan and benefits will be provided.
This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
