Title : Manager, Security

POSITION SUMMARY :
The Manager, Security is responsible for developing and managing the company's overall safety and security and arena parking plans.
Providing guidance and leadership to the security team, this role directly supervises event security staff and supervisors and base building security staff.
The incumbent will offer advice and guidance on issues related to security, safety and parking for all events held at Rogers Arena.
This role will focus on :
Base Building Security
- Overseeing base building security requirements for Rogers Arena, working with all departments and partners on building and corporate security requirements
- Administering base building security contract with third party service provider ensuring staffing levels are maintained, day to day procedures are adhered to, protection of Rogers Arena's physical property is not compromised, and emergency, fire safety, and surveillance systems are in proper functioning order
- Overseeing access control program, key requests, and access card requests
- Conducting annual site training with base security staff and holding regular meetings with Site Supervisor and base security Management Representative to address operational and performance issues
- Developing strategies and tactics to integrate base security staff as part of CSE team to provide a seamless experience to staff, guests, clients, and partner organizations at Rogers Arena
- Reviewing security logs, daily reports, and checklists and overseeing all budgeting requirements for base security operations
Event Security
- Overseeing all event security requirements for Rogers Arena, working with all departments and partners on implementing event security requirements
- Hiring, training, and managing part-time event security staff and supervisors and parking attendants, including performance issues and union / management concerns
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all operational departments and partner organizations to maintain a consistent approach to fan experience across the company and increase customer service levels at all touch points within Rogers Arena
- Reviewing supervisor and incident reports after each event in order to conduct more thorough investigations and address any security related issues which arise during events
- Working closely with Event Managers and Promoter / Client representatives on implementation of all event security and parking requirements and interfacing with arena security staff and procedures
- Reviewing event deployments to ensure security and parking staffing levels meet event requirements
- Liaising with the Vancouver Police Department on event and day-time security issues that may arise
- Liaising with Vancouver Canucks and NHL security representatives on implementation of team and league requirements
- Working Duty Manager shifts during events, overseeing event security and parking requirements, responding to security calls and employee performance issues, and assisting the Event Manager as necessary

YOU HAVE :
- A degree or diploma in recreational / event management, human resources / labour management, criminology or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar capacity
- Minimum 3 years' supervisory experience in a unionized environment
- Strong security background with a sound understanding of security systems and administration (i.e., camera systems, etc.)
- Creative thinking abilities to identify ways to improve systems and procedures
- Experience motivating staff and addressing performance improvement issues in a unionized environment
- A team player with a strong client service focus
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of staff, management, and external partners
- A proactive self-starter attitude and the ability to put thought, creativity, and ingenuity into work assignments
- A practical, client-centred manner approach to problem solving
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects
- Strong proficiency with Windows-based software applications
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during event times as required
- This is an onsite role at our office in downtown Vancouver
