Job Overview
Job Title : Database Administrator
Contract Length : 12 months (possibility of extension)
Location : Hybrid – Ottawa, ON
Security Clearance : Secret (Level II)
Vacancy Type : New Position
Salary : $60.00 – $80.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure and maintain all supported database software (Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server) on-premises and in Azure cloud-based high‑availability environments.
- Carry out database performance tuning and analysis.
- Implement and review backup and recovery strategy to ensure that business service‑level agreements are met.
- Conduct database security administration to ensure that data is only available to authorized users.
- Ensure data consistency by adhering to data model standards and best practices.
- Maintain schema objects and perform production migrations.
- Resolve database‑related technical issues.
- Analyze and monitor system performance to identify major bottlenecks and the impact of administration tasks on core business scenarios.
- Participate in the resolution of complex database issues by applying advanced level knowledge.
- Provide operational support to database administrators.
- Other related activities and deliverables, as required.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.Recent experience with MS Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance (MI), Oracle Exadata, Oracle 19c, SQL Server 2019 or higher.Experience with cloud SQL PaaS services, specifically Azure.Knowledge of Oracle Cloud, Oracle Exadata Database Service, PostgreSQL on Azure.Experience with Oracle Exadata, Data Guard, RAC.Experience with Database Recovery Manager (RMAN) including backup / restore and point‑in‑time recovery.Experience with Data Pump for database / data migration.Concept of Oracle Advanced Security Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to organize effectively.Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database.Knowledge of Commvault.Knowledge of Dynatrace.Relevant certifications (OCP, Azure, etc.), including :
Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator AssociateMicrosoft Certified : Azure Administrator AssociateOracle cloud certificationsApplication Submission Details
