The Director, Head of Data Engineering for GT Canada is a newly created role reporting to the Vice President, CIO Canada. The Directorwill beaccountable fordata engineering and data management in GT Canada with an immediate focus to capture, assess and develop the technology strategy & roadmap for the next 3 to 5 years.
The positionrequires a solid track record of technical leadership, preferably in the financial sector. Also, it requiresextensive experience working in a global matrixedorganization, highly skilled in collaboration across functional units (business / products, legal, compliance, finance, operations) andwith various global technology groups.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiringfoundational experience leading large data transformation / modernization programs with the objectives to increase efficiency, increase stability& resiliency, reducerisks, and increase productivity of project delivery with respect to data.
Critical skills required to be successful includeexcellent technical expertise in data engineering & data management, strong communication and collaboration skills, attention to detail, the ability to lead without authority and good understanding of financials (e.g.Opex, Capex, construct of a business case).
Key Responsibilities
Set the vision and strategy for data engineering in Canada by having a clear understanding of business value and customer needs, and the ability to translate these needs into the architecture, design, build and delivery of data solutions while leveraging / reusing TU global / international solutions.
Create, maintain, and own technology data strategy and roadmaps, and leading the ongoing delivery and management of data.
Team up with product owners, architects, analysts andengineers to elaborate business and technology requirements.
Lead cross-functional teams from ideation to launch of data solutions ensuring coordination between data and application platforms, solution architecture, information security standards, operational processes, and data governance so that the final product meets business, technology, and regulatory requirements.
Drive KPIs critical to software and data quality.
Communicate effectively with the business and technology stakeholders setting expectations of any operational impacts of new / changed data solutions.
Own and manage the business metadata, data quality, standards, governance, and metrics for Canada leveragingCanada GT, GIO, InfoSec, Ops and US data acquisition & services teams.
Engage and collaborate with partners and stakeholders to gather input and communicate plans, timelines, and deliverables.
Perform relevant Data Stewardship activities when necessary.
Provide strong mentorship, leadership, coaching, and expertise to build and enhance core talent capabilities.
