Reporting to the Manager of Network Infrastructure, the incumbent actively takes a leading role in the planning, design, installation, monitoring and maintenance of network infrastructure systems, inter / intranet, networking and data communications systems software, and layered software products and utilities.
The incumbent, through continuous product research provides : technical advice, training, guidance and direction to administrative and academic clients.
The incumbent takes a leading role in critical and complex intra- and inter-organizational projects requiring very high levels of co-ordination and an extreme peadth of knowledge.
Overall responsibility for the security, efficiency, effectiveness, evaluation, utilization, modernization and interoperability of clients, servers, networking, inter / intranet and data communications resources is the prime function of this position.
The incumbent oversees a team responsible for the ongoing operations of the networks across all 3 locations and is responsible for assigning tasks as required, providing direction on standards and ensuring compliance.
Requirements include :
- Certifications in Network design, security, and specific technologies. Cisco Certified Networking Professional or higher (CCIE, CCDP) is required;
- Minimum eight (8) years experience as follows :
- Extensive working experience with a wide variety of Cisco hardware, IOS, Windows (all versions), TCP / IP, SNMP, Web protocols, Security methods / protocols, WAN technologies, firewalls Routing / Switching techniques is essential.
- Highly developed analytical, problem solving and evaluation skills are required to understand and determine solutions to complex situations.
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, and project management skills to effectively utilize both human and information technology resources.
- Highly developed verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff and while conducting presentations, meetings and training.
Tact, diplomacy and a client service orientation are needed to obtain / impart all relevant information.
- Well developed interpersonal and leadership skills in order to work effectively with a variety of staff, users and suppliers.
- Minimum four (4) year degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline;
