Key Activities
The Database Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and strategic use of donor data to support fundraising success. Reporting to the Director of Development Operations, this role provides leadership in database management, gift processing oversight, and system optimization, while collaborating across teams to advance data-driven decision-making.
Specific Duties :
- Supervise the database function and coordinate data-related work across fundraising teams;
- Oversee high-volume gift entry, tax receipting, and pledge reconciliation, ensuring compliance with CRA regulations;
- Maintain and optimize Raiser’s Edge and integrated platforms, implementing system improvements to enhance workflows and data accuracy;
- Develop and enforce data governance standards, conduct regular audits, and ensure privacy and security compliance;
- Partner with Finance on reconciliation, reporting, and audit support;
- Lead cross-functional projects such as database upgrades, campaign preparation, and data audits;
- Design and deliver training programs to build organizational capacity in database use and data standards;
- Prepare analytics, dashboards, and KPI reporting to inform strategic decisions.
Skill Requirements
College or university degree or equivalent experience;Proven experience in database management, preferably in a fundraising or nonprofit context;Advanced proficiency in Raiser’s Edge and related platforms;Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing cross-functional projects;Excellent communication and collaboration skills;Knowledge of Canadian charitable sector and CRA compliance requirements;Detail-oriented, strategic thinker with flexibility and initiative;Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office;Bilingualism is an asset.
