Our client in the Financial Services sector is seeking an Interim Finance Manager for a 6 month contract. The role will require working in office, in the downtown Toronto core, 2 days a week.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual subsidiary financial statements and liaise with external auditors on accounting policy formulation and disclosure alternatives as required
- Prepare monthly and quarterly subsidiary financial and board reporting packages
- Prepare schedules used to support the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements
- Accountable for development and maintenance of various financial reports
- Act as primary technical accounting support for team and provide accounting research and analysis of significant contracts and complex accounting transactions as required
- Manage and support various accounting activities such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, including review of related journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepare variance analysis on monthly financial results, comparing actual results to budget, forecast and prior year. Analysis includes an understanding of the key revenue and expense drivers of the business.
Act as a point person for any queries.
- Prepare and analyze monthly AUM files
- Review best practices and recommend continuous improvement efforts in financial reporting and accounting
- Assist with quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process as required.
- Respond to ad hoc requests as required
Qualifications :
- CPA designation
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in industry or public accounting
- Knowledge of IFRS
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to use advanced Excel functions
- Strong time and project management, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with development of financial reports an asset
- Ability to adapt, learn quickly and work independently on multiple competing priorities
- Experience with Workday Financials and / or Adaptive Insights would be advantageous
