Job Description : Omniply is looking for a Materials Scientist to support development of Omniply's new materials for delamination of thin films used for fabricating the next generation of flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays.
We are looking for a Materials Scientist / Chemist / Engineer with a background in materials science / chemistry / engineering / physics, and experience in thin film coatings of inorganic materials and thin film device fabrication.
Desired Skills :
Strong understanding of interfacial chemistry and adhesion forces for thin film semiconductor applications; first-hand experience in designing new material to control surface properties for thin film coatings.
Industry experience in fabrication of thin film coatings and / or devices, with a thorough understanding of the effect of process conditions on the deposition of inorganic thin film multilayer structures.
Responsibilities :
- Investigate the interfacial adhesion properties between multilayer inorganic thin films
- Design and lead development of inorganic materials to modify or control adhesion between multilayer thin films
- Develop process recipes for fabrication of materials & devise characterization parameters for the new materials
- Conduct research to develop new chemical formulations and processes and devise new technical applications of industrial chemicals and compounds
- Conduct laboratory experiment in the field of chemistry, thin film coatings, surface science, and polymer science
- Effectively apply the latest thin film design techniques and materials
- Perform failure analysis to improve development methods
- Deliver on project communication and actively pursue contingency plans
- Effectively communicate the results to the Omniply technical staff
- Document the results in comprehensive technical reports
- Create and secure intellectual property for Omniply
Qualifications :
- Ph.D in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics or related field or a Bachelor’s / MS degree with relevant experience is required
- 2+ years of industry experience in thin films with experience in developing new materials
- Extensive knowledge and experience in engineering surface properties in multilayer films
- Experience in calculation and modeling of stress and strain in multilayer films
- Understanding of OLED process development is a plus
- Knowledge of microelectronics fabrication processes and physical vapor deposition is a plus
- Familiarity with thin film metrology tools
- Ability to write technical documents
- Self-motivated and creative / innovative
- Data-driven with strong documentation and reporting skills
- Good analytical / modeling skills, ability to work under pressure
- Good communication skills
