Court Clerk Monitor
Job Summary
Reporting to Supervisor of Court Support, the successful candidate will provide court support as assigned on a rotating basis.
Provide pre, post and in-court documentation and related services in a timely and accurate fashion. Provide back up to other court administration staff as required.
Provide assistance to the general public, police, Judiciary and other stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide, endorse and update dockets and information using Integrated Courts Offence Network (ICON) database system
- Respond to inquiries from Justices of the Peace, clients and other stakeholders
- Maintain courtroom decorum as per the Ontario Courts of Justice Act
- Organize, maintain, record and distribute necessary files, information, dockets, exhibits, reports and documents that go before and come out of court
- Liaise with judiciary, trial coordinator, clients, counsel, agency workers, enforcement staff, interpreters, staff, etc.
to ensure timely and effective use of courts
- Operate audio monitoring equipment to record proceedings and keep a detailed log of all proceedings, persons and dockets during the court session
- Send out recordings for transcription to accredited court transcriptionists using BOX
- Prepare court forms
- Provide ad hoc assistance on projects / initiatives within the unit / team
- Perform other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, law administration or court related field or equivalent required
- Ability to use Liberty recording software ensuring accuracy while taking the court record
- Knowledge of ZOOM software for virtual court
- Experience in a computerized environment. Knowledge of ICON computer software. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and SharePoint
- Good knowledge of Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Act and courtroom procedures
- Ability to work on own initiative with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, the public, police, judiciary, legal profession and all other stakeholders
- Good organizational and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- May require light lifting of supplies / materials.
- Listen attentively and visually check to ensure accuracy of information. Exposure to computer keyboards and screens
Hourly Rate / Salary : $ 32.39 - $ 43.18 (Based on Salary Grade C $58,942 to $78,592)
