Job Summary

The Director, Finance will be an integral member of the finance team and will report to the Vice President, Finance. This role is responsible for delivering financial reporting documents to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.

The role will support strategic initiatives such as IPO-readiness activities associated with any future Initial Public Offering, support the finance transformation initiatives including automation and ERP implementation.

The role provides direct supervision of the accounting and financial reporting, revenue accounting, internal controls and requires a high level of influence and collaboration with other members of the broader Finance team, including Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, and Tax.

Duties & Responsibilities Leads the preparation of quarterly financial reporting documents including the consolidated financial statements, Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), disclosure committee documents and audit committee material.

Provides advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, controls, analysis, and reporting to ensure fiscal integrity of the organization.

Reviews, and at times prepares, technical research and interpretation of new IFRS standards as well as new complex agreements and transactions for appropriate accounting treatment.

Reviews monthly technical and complex accounting journal entries on an as-needed basis. Stays abreast of new and upcoming accounting and auditing standards.

Improves the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information and provide accurate and comprehensive materials in support of regular Audit Committee meetings.

Responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting including airline partnerships and loyalty. Development of Porter’s internal controls program including documentation of significant processes and the related key controls ensuring these are updated annually or as changes occur.

Serves as advisor to the Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams as it relates to accounting and reporting standards as the organization pursues strategic initiatives.

Collaborates with finance leadership to develop objectives, improve processes and financial systems. Actively participates in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations;

understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy Behavioural Competencies Concern for Safety : Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.

Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting required Accounting designation required (Chartered Professional Accountant Designation) 10+ years of direct financial management experience, including working with external auditors (experience in the airline industry or the transportation sector preferred) Experience in a major public accounting firm (preferred) Strong technical accounting skills;

thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and COSO requirements Leadership capabilities to develop and strengthen the teams managed Proven management success in a larger company with the ability to attract, motivate and retain top talent Strong financial disciplines, especially in the areas of compliance, technical accounting, and general accounting Must be a highly organized individual with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness Highly analytical with the ability to understand complex issues by breaking down to their simplest components, conceptualize solutions, and clearly communicate to varying audiences Drives team to consistently meet expectations and deadlines Must work well in a team environment, demonstrating an ability to influence multiple functions Advanced fundamental Excel skills required Exposure to large Enterprise Resource Planning applications, API integrations and other autonomous technologies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work and interact with employees at all levels in the organization
