General Manager – HVAC & Home Services Operations
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and grow a residential HVAC and home services operation in the Ottawa Region. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, driving revenue and profitability, managing teams across service and installation divisions, and executing strategic growth initiatives across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in HVAC operations, people leadership, budgeting, and business development, with hands-on technical experience and a proven track record of building high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall business operations, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and high customer satisfaction
- Develop and execute strategic growth plans to expand service offerings and market presence
- Oversee sales, marketing, and revenue performance to meet monthly and annual targets
- Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and coach field technicians, managers, and support staff
- Manage workflow across service, installation, warehouse, and operations teams
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to revenue, productivity, customer service, and quality
- Oversee inventory management and warehouse operations (including high-value equipment)
- Manage customer and supplier relationships to drive long-term partnerships
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory standards
- Lead team meetings, performance reviews, and training initiatives
- Provide operational support and technical problem-solving when needed in the field
Required Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of experience in HVAC or home services operations (service, installation, or management)Proven leadership experience in roles such as General Manager, Operations Manager, or Service ManagerStrong background in budgeting, revenue targets, and business performance managementExperience recruiting and leading multi-trade teams (HVAC, plumbing, electrical preferred)Hands-on technical HVAC experience (troubleshooting, installations, preventive maintenance)Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage inventory, scheduling, fleet operations, and workflow processesEducation & Certifications
Gas Technician 2 (G2) License (TSSA or equivalent) – required / preferredMechanical Ventilation / HRV Balancing Certification (preferred)Post-secondary education in HVAC, technical trades, or related field preferredKey Skills
