Position Summary
Director, Business Development at Thales Canada – a hybrid role based in Ottawa. The Director will lead growth in naval, maritime and digital defense domains, positioning Thales as the partner of choice for domestic customers including the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Coast Guard and the Department of National Defence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive business development for naval and digital portfolios, establishing senior relationships with Canadian Armed Forces, prime contractors and industry partners.
- Lead capture planning from opportunity identification through hand‑off to the Capture Leader, shaping solutions and value proposition.
- Develop competitive intelligence, market assessments and long‑range forecasts to support strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering, product and capture teams to align roadmaps with customer priorities and emerging technologies.
- Represent Thales Canada at industry forums, customer and government events to strengthen brand visibility.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.Minimum 5 years’ experience in government sales in the defense industry with a proven record of sales and business development success.Strong understanding of Canadian defense procurement processes, with preference for experience in Canadian naval programs.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted customer and stakeholder relationships.Exceptional leadership, team management and financial / business acumen.Preferred Experience
Knowledge of emerging technologies (AI, cybersecurity).Strategic thinker with proven skills in capture management, competitive positioning and stakeholder engagement.Experience managing cross‑functional teams and operating within a matrixed organization.Benefits and Compensation
