The opportunity

The Managing Director, Advice & Support will work with the Head of Manulife Investment Management (MIM) Advisor Group and Head of Private Wealth and the leadership team to :

  • Lead the transition advice team responsible for retaining clients transitioning from one employer to another and appropriately triaging the client to an advisor who can make valuable contributions for the client in terms of their holistic financial needs.
  • Define the overall approach to deliver client service and sales support across all wealth advice models with a focus on creating an efficient organization that delivers world class services to clients across the wealth spectrum while mitigating risk to the firm.
  • Oversee the high net worth client service and investment counsellor / advisor support team and the wealth & retirement client and advisor support team.
  • Actively review and implement relationship management, sales effectiveness, triage and workflow process improvements.
  • Instill a client first approach with strong culture of integrity and a strong focus on compliance and risk.
  • Represent the MIM Advisory business on corporate and head office initiatives and champion operational and technology projects.
  • Work to build the implementation of the digital-first hybrid advice model, together with other leaders and partners.
  • Attend as a key partner at the leadership table for core partners to the MIM Advisory business, as appropriate.

How will you create impact?

This role reports directly to the Head of MIM Advisory Group and Private Wealth in Global Wealth & Asset Management and will play a key role in driving value for clients transitioning from one employer to another, and will be key in building, together with leadership and key partners, a triage model for the teams so that clients are placed with the advisor within our advice teams best suited to drive value for them based on their needs.

The Managing Director, Advice & Support will create true impact for all our advice teams by building true centers of excellence in client service and sales support that enhance the client, employee and partner experience.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years of people leadership experience in wealth management or financial advice, including specifically leadership of client facing advice teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial services and / or wealth management, as well as an understanding of client service and sales support operating models.
  • Ability to lead through change and build resilient client-facing teams with client-first mindset.
  • Process improvement expertise to drive efficiency and improve the client, employee and partner experience.
  • Collaborative approach and strong relationship building capabilities to get results and remove obstacles to success.
  • Performance and results oriented.
  • High degree of integrity and professional.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Position may be primarily located in Montreal or Toronto.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between

$123,400.00 CAD - $229,300.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education / training.

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
