Job description

We are looking for a Product Designer to own the visual layer across our client's cybersecurity product portfolio. Our client is a privately owned, profitable scaleup with millions of global users. This role suits a self-directed designer who works quickly, cares deeply about craft, and uses AI tools as a natural part of the design process.

Role Overview

You will take flows defined by the UX/UI Designer and turn them into polished, build-ready screens. You will own layout, typography, spacing, components, and platform conventions, and you will stay close to engineering throughout the build to ensure that what ships matches what was designed. A major part of the role is leading the visual redesign of product dashboards and bringing early, AI-built pages from engineering into a consistent design language.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate flows from the UX/UI Designer into polished, build-ready screens across desktop, mobile, browser extension, and web account experiences.
  • Own the visual design layer, including layout, typography, spacing, components, and adherence to platform conventions.
  • Lead the visual redesign of product dashboards, taking rough, AI-built pages from engineering and bringing them into the established design language.
  • Explore several genuinely different design directions quickly, then converge on one and finish it to a high standard.
  • Build fully working prototypes in Claude Design, drawing on the master design and design system, so that states emerge through interaction rather than a screen selector.
  • Work closely with engineers throughout the build and own design QA.
  • Contribute visual components and patterns to the design system.
  • Report usability issues identified through QA, data, or support tickets back to the UX/UI Designer.
  • Collaborate with the Growth, Web, and Apps teams on onboarding, activation, upgrade, and retention experiments, designing on-brand variants.
  • Explain design decisions clearly and respond constructively to feedback.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2 to 4+ years of product design experience for web apps, desktop, or mobile, with a portfolio showing shipped work and its impact.
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI tools such as Claude, Claude Design, Figma Make, or similar, and a preference for describing intent over manual drag-and-drop work.
  • Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, hierarchy, spacing, and component craft.
  • Typographic taste and restraint, with an instinct for when a screen needs fewer words, fewer styles, and less clutter.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, noticing issues such as unstyled scrollbars, orphaned words, or inconsistent text styles before anyone else.
  • Understanding of iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows design conventions.
  • Ability to work within an established design system and extend it without breaking consistency.
  • Working knowledge of interaction design, sufficient to build on existing flows without compromising them.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS or component-based UI.
  • Excellent verbal and written English, with clear and concise communication.

How You Work

  • Self-directed: you can take a direction and run with it without needing every decision specified.
  • Fast-moving: you deliver in days rather than weeks and present multiple options rather than a single one.
  • Self-critical: you review your own work rigorously before sharing it.
  • Proactive with feedback: you share work early, tag the right people, and join a quick huddle when needed rather than waiting for a scheduled meeting.
  • Effective remotely: you are equally comfortable in live calls and design reviews as in asynchronous threads, comments, and written handoffs.
  • Responsive during working hours, with clear updates on what is done, what is blocked, and what is next.
  • Collaborative with engineers: you write handoffs they can build from without guesswork and raise engineering constraints early.
  • Ownership-minded: you take well-scoped projects from start to finish, with regular check-ins and team feedback.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with agentic tools that take design to code, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.
  • Familiarity with privacy, security, or networking products.
  • Experience designing B2B SaaS dashboards or admin tools.
  • Motion design for user interfaces.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience with product analytics tools such as Matomo, Mixpanel, or similar.

Who This Role Is Not For

  • Candidates looking for a low-intensity role.
  • Candidates who need detailed specifications before they start.
  • Candidates who treat AI design tools as a faster version of Figma, or who prefer dragging elements around to describing what they want.
  • Candidates who present a single option and wait for the next meeting.
  • Candidates who believe that details can wait until a later version.
