Job description
Company: Gunness & Associates
Engagement: One-time project, approx. 1 month
Location: Remote
Availability: Must overlap with 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST for calls and updates
Overview:
We run our own AI assistant platform, similar to Vapi, where we build and manage different assistants. We now need an experienced engineer to build a WhatsApp AI assistant that handles both inbound and outbound conversations. This is a fixed-scope project, not a full-time role.
Project Scope:
- Build a WhatsApp AI assistant for inbound conversations (answering queries, qualifying leads, booking or routing)
- Build outbound messaging flows (follow-ups, reminders, template messages, campaigns)
- Set up and configure the Meta WhatsApp Business / Cloud API, including message templates and webhooks
- Build the n8n workflows that connect WhatsApp, the AI assistant, and our platform
- Connect the assistant to our existing platform and CRM so conversations and lead data are logged
- Add a knowledge base (RAG) so the assistant answers from our own content
- Test, fix issues, and hand over with clear documentation
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience with n8n (APIs, webhooks, logic, code nodes)
- Hands-on experience with Vapi or similar voice/AI assistant platforms
- Hands-on experience with Meta WhatsApp Business / Cloud API (templates, webhooks, approvals)
- Experience building AI agents with LLMs (OpenAI or similar) and prompt engineering
- Working knowledge of RAG, embeddings, and vector databases
- Comfortable with JavaScript or Python, JSON, and REST APIs
- Past WhatsApp bot or AI assistant projects you can show us
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Twilio or other WhatsApp BSPs
- CRM integration experience
- Background in sales, support, or lead qualification automation
Deliverables:
- Working inbound and outbound WhatsApp assistant, live on our platform
- n8n workflows exported and documented
- Short handover session with our team
