Job description

Job Description

We are currently seeking for the role of electrical engineer to create and maintain electrical drawings for our welding equipment using safety standards and codes. The hours will typically be Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. As an electrical engineer, you will be a part of the Electrical Engineering group. You will be responsible for supporting the design of our existing welding equipment and developing new designs as required.


Base salary: $64,000 - $75,000 / year

Location: 45 Innovation Dr, Hamilton, ON L9H 7L8

Typical Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for designing, creating and updating electrical drawings, schematics under the direction of Electrical Engineer
  • Responsible for preparing detailed step-by-step work procedures and instructions for manufacturing and commissioning
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team on product design, development, testing, and documentation
  • Working directly with production staff on the shop floor to execute project test plans using engineering instruments (e.g. oscilloscopes, function generators) and troubleshooting strategies
  • Project management

Key Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and symbols
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Ability to use electrical engineering design principles to create novel solutions
  • Ability to problem solve by applying a methodical approach and critical thinking
  • Ability to multi-task by staying organized and closing projects
  • Ability to explain technical ideas and concepts clearly and actively listen
  • Familiarity of Canadian Electrical Code would be an asset
  • Familiarity with drafting standards and symbols
  • Strong understanding of electrical standards and mechanical assemblies

Key Experience/Education:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Engineering (B Eng.) degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering role required
  • Practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical software tools such as Altium Designer, Eplan, P-Cad and SolidEdge 2023 would be an asset
  • Awareness of ISO 9001
