Platform Engineer

We are seeking a highly accomplished Platform Engineer for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a key platform engineering, software delivery modernization, and AI-enabled engineering capacity, specializing in enhancing developer productivity and accelerating modern engineering workflows across a large enterprise environment.

As a Platform Engineer, you will bridge the gap between software development teams, enterprise architects, platform groups, and infrastructure leads. Operating within a hybrid work model in Toronto, you will design and implement CI/CD pipelines, drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation, and evaluate AI-assisted software development tools to streamline delivery processes. This position demands a technical authority with strong expertise in GitHub Enterprise, release automation, and cloud-native practices who can solve complex engineering challenges and foster modern developer experience standards.

Assignment Type: Hybrid (Initially 2 days onsite, transitioning up to 4 days)

Contract Duration: 12-month contract (with potential for extension or conversion)

Responsibilities
Support platform engineering, DevOps transformation, and software delivery modernization initiatives across enterprise environments.

Design, build, and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines, release automation frameworks, and Infrastructure as Code workflows.

Evaluate, implement, and drive adoption of AI-enabled software engineering tools to improve developer experience and delivery performance.

Partner with enterprise architects, platform teams, and software engineering leads to standardize modern software delivery practices.

Identify operational bottlenecks in engineering workflows and streamline processes through automation and self-service developer tools.

Contribute hands-on technical expertise and execution for high-priority cloud-native modernization projects.

Facilitate knowledge sharing and technical enablement around GitHub workflows, source control management, and automated testing.

Communicate complex technical concepts clearly across engineering, infrastructure, and product management teams.

Qualifications
Core Technical & Platform Engineering Requirements
Professional Experience: Minimum 8+ years of overall experience in platform engineering, software delivery modernization, or DevOps engineering.

DevOps & Automation: Strong expertise in DevOps practices, enterprise CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and Infrastructure as Code.

GitHub Ecosystem: Deep proficiency with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, source control management strategies, and developer workflow design.

AI Tooling & Adoption: Demonstrated experience evaluating and adopting AI-assisted software development utilities (e.g., GitHub Copilot) across the SDLC.

Education: College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Experience & Assets
Internal Developer Platforms: Hands-on experience with internal developer platforms (IDPs), self-service tooling, and developer experience (DX) initiatives.

Cloud & Financial Services: Experience with cloud-native platforms and prior work within large, regulated enterprise or financial services environments.

Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Collaboration & Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Analytical Problem Solving: Superior diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to simplify complex technical challenges and optimize delivery pipelines.
