Senior Mitigation Field Operations Supervisor
Location: Ottawa, ON
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive compensation package based on experience, certifications, leadership background, and technical expertise.
Reports To: Mitigation Manager
Role Focus: Field oversight, quality assurance, and adherence to Paul Davis and IICRC mitigation standards
If you are the person who can walk onto a jobsite, spot what needs attention, coach the team, solve the problem, and still keep the job moving, this role was built for you. Paul Davis Ottawa is looking for a senior mitigation professional who knows how to lead in the field, raise standards, and make sure restoration work is done right the first time.
Why Join Paul Davis Ottawa? This is not a sit-behind-a-desk supervisor role. You will be in the field setting the standard, supporting strong crews, holding subcontractors accountable, protecting the customer experience, and helping build a mitigation department known for quality, documentation, professionalism, and consistent execution.
The Senior Mitigation Field Operations Supervisor reports to the Mitigation Manager and serves as the department’s field-level expert for oversight, quality assurance, production support, and adherence to Paul Davis operating procedures and applicable IICRC standards. This role is part coach, part technical lead, part quality expert, and part hands-on problem-solver.
What You’ll Do Field Oversight, Quality Assurance and Production Support
· Review new and active mitigation projects to verify scope accuracy, site conditions, drying strategy, production progress, documentation quality, and resource needs.
· Lead, coach, and support Crew Chiefs and Mitigation Technicians so jobs stay safe, organized, productive, and on schedule.
· Identify field issues early, recommend practical solutions, and help remove production roadblocks before they become escalations.
· Verify drying goals, moisture mapping, equipment strategy, monitoring frequency, psychrometric readings, and production milestones against Paul Davis procedures and applicable IICRC standards.
- Get on the tools as needed to complete small-scope tasks — such as equipment placement or pickup, moisture readings, containment adjustments, minor demolition, or finishing work — to keep jobs on schedule when crews are stretched.
Quality Assurance & Compliance · Verify that crews are following Paul Davis SOPs, applicable IICRC standards, health and safety requirements, and job-specific scope requirements.
· Conduct in-progress and final quality inspections to confirm workmanship, cleanliness, containment, equipment placement, drying documentation, photo documentation, safety compliance, and readiness for handoff.
· Confirm that health and safety requirements are being followed on site, including PPE use, hazard controls, containment integrity, site cleanliness, and professional conduct.
- Ensure deficiencies are documented, communicated, and corrected promptly.
· Ensure required field documentation—moisture readings, photos, daily logs, equipment records, scope notes, and deficiency follow-up—is completed accurately and in real time.
Communication & Coordination - Communicate field status, resource needs, and schedule impacts to the Mitigation Coordinator and Mitigation Manager daily.
- Escalate production risks, scope changes, and operational challenges promptly.
- Assist with customer concerns on site and facilitate issue resolution when appropriate.
· Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure subcontractors follow Paul Davis SOPs, applicable IICRC standards, health and safety requirements, job-specific scope requirements, documentation expectations, and professional conduct standards.
What You Bring Required Experience and Qualifications
· 10+ years of experience in restoration, mitigation, and related field operations, including demonstrated senior-level field leadership experience.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in field operations.
· Strong working knowledge of mitigation best practices, drying principles, moisture documentation, field-level quality control, Paul Davis operating expectations, and applicable IICRC standards.
· Current or previous IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) certification is required, plus at least three additional relevant IICRC certifications, for a minimum of four total. Relevant certifications may include ASD, AMRT, FSRT, OCT, or other IICRC certifications related to mitigation, restoration, drying, fire, smoke, odour, or microbial remediation.
- Ability and willingness to perform hands-on mitigation tasks when required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Strong Assets · Asbestos and mould remediation experience, training, or awareness is considered a strong asset.
· Bilingual communication skills in English and French are considered a strong asset.
- Experience with RMS, Encircle, Xactimate, or restoration management software.
Don’t Meet Every Requirement?
If this role sounds like a great fit and you are close to the required experience and certification profile but do not meet every item exactly, we still encourage you to apply. We are looking for someone with strong mitigation experience, excellent field judgment, a commitment to doing work the right way, and the ability to lead crews and subcontractors to high standards.
Success in This Role Looks Like Success in this role means crews trust your field leadership, managers trust your judgment, subcontractors understand the standard, and customers see the result in clean, professional, well-documented work. You keep quality high, catch gaps early, help teams stay productive and accountable, and make sure mitigation work meets Paul Davis procedures and applicable IICRC standards.
