Office 365 Solutions Architect

We are seeking a highly accomplished Office 365 Solutions Architect for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier technical leadership and architectural capacity, specializing in assessing legacy content management environments, planning complex enterprise migrations, and leading the transition to modern cloud collaboration platforms.

As a principal solutions architect, you will bridge the gap between legacy document repositories, data governance frameworks, and modern SharePoint environments. Operating under a full-time onsite or hybrid work model, you will lead the pre-migration strategy, design metadata mapping schemes, resolve technical migration bottlenecks, and build automated workflows. This position demands a seasoned technical SME who can ensure full-fidelity data preservation, maintain permission structures, and guide cross-functional teams through seamless platform transformations.

Responsibilities
Assess current content server business usage, leading pre-migration planning, site model standardization, metadata mapping, and content cleanup.

Develop, document, and execute comprehensive end-to-end migration strategies from legacy content platforms to SharePoint Online.

Ensure original metadata, created/modified dates, author attributes, version histories, and user permission models are preserved during data transfers.

Diagnose and resolve technical migration bottlenecks, including long path constraints, custom scripts, deep folder hierarchies, and unsupported characters.

Implement URL redirection services to maintain link preservation across migrated documents and communication channels.

Prepare immutable content server backups with versioning capabilities to ensure ongoing compliance and audit restoration post-decommissioning.

Provide lead technical SME support for SharePoint site administration, user access groups, and site architecture rollouts.

Design, build, and deploy SharePoint sites, custom business workflows, and automation scripts aligned with enterprise standards.

Author step-by-step migration guidelines, architectural best practices, and technical documentation to support operational teams.

Provide post-migration warranty support, issue resolution, and formal transition to operational support teams.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Technical Capabilities
SharePoint Competencies: 5 to 10 years of technical experience in SharePoint administration, configuration, permission modeling, modern feature development (sites, mobile, workflows), and scripting for automated migration activities.

Content Server Expertise: 5 to 10 years of technical experience with OpenText Content Server user administration, folder structures, metadata mapping, data extraction, and immutable backup creation for audit compliance.

Migration Strategy & Execution: Proven experience leading enterprise-level migrations from Content Server to SharePoint, including gap analysis, link redirection, and full-fidelity data preservation.

Pre-Migration Strategy & Cleanup: Extensive background in pre-migration planning, library model standardization, content cleanup, and mapping categories/attributes to SharePoint managed metadata.

Technical Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to engineer workarounds for custom workflows, large site size constraints, and complex folder structures.

Education: University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical discipline is preferred.

Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Consultative Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with business units and technical leads.

Operational Leadership: Proven ability to manage migration schedules, guide administrator teams, and deliver reliable technical solutions under defined timelines.
