The opportunity

EY’s Technology Strategy & Transformation team helps public sector clients navigate complex digital transformations. We are seeking a Senior Consultant based in Ottawa to support engagements focused on federal government modernization initiatives. This role requires strong consulting experience, deep understanding of government technology strategy, and proven stakeholder management skills. Security clearance is required.

We are looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following Technology Transformation capabilities:

• IT-enabled Business Transformation and Value Creation: Help clients design the transformation of their business by leveraging technology-enabled solutions. Help clients uncover opportunities to create incremental business value by transforming digital experiences, business processes and associated enabling technology.
• Technology Strategy and IT Operating Model: Help our clients align their technology and digital strategy to their business strategic direction. Deliver technology strategy engagements, including digital operating model design, modernization roadmaps, and transformation planning. Stay current on federal government priorities, digital trends, and emerging technologies relevant to public sector transformation. Capabilities within this include current-state assessments, technology and digital roadmap development, next-generation IT operating model design, sourcing structure, organization design, organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, governance structure, performance, risk management, and sourcing.
• Program Delivery: Help client stakeholders on their most complex portfolio and program challenges and provide advice on program delivery activities such as program setup and rapid mobilization, scope and cost management, schedule and resource management, project management activities around design, implementation and sustainment, quality management, change management, and outcome and benefits management.
• Applies AI in the flow of work with strong professional judgement – Integrates AI into day-to-day delivery while validating outputs, challenging assumptions, and maintaining accountability for quality
• Leads responsible and risk-aware use of AI – Demonstrates sound judgement on data use, confidentiality, and ethical considerations and reinforces this standard practice; escalates risks appropriately and models good practices for teams
• Drives structured and creative problem solving using AI – Uses AI to accelerate analysis, scenario generation, and insight development while maintaining clear linkage to business outcomes
• Builds repeatable ways of working with AI – Develops and shares prompts, approaches, and tool usage that improve team productivity and consistency in existing data libraries/catalogues

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Consultant an important part of your role will be to actively deliver on the engagements to support our client needs. This includes developing work products and assets to meet our client deliverables as well as establishing, maintaining and strengthening internal and external relationships. You'll also identify potential business opportunities for EY within existing engagements and share these with your team members as appropriate. Similarly, you'll anticipate and identify risks within engagements and raise any issues with senior members of the team. In line with EY’s commitment to quality, you’ll deliver high quality work, and work closely with senior members of the team to review and improve it further. As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a collaborative work environment, positive learning culture, and coach/counsel junior team members to help them to develop.

Deliver federal government technology strategy engagements, including digital operating model design, modernization roadmaps, and transformation planning.

Demonstrate an understanding and interest in business strategy concepts, business/technology transformations, operating models, service delivery transformation all while considering the disruptive technology trends (e.g. DevOps, Agile, AI/ML, Cloud, APIs) which are prevalent in today’s economy.

Deliver quality services by demonstrating excellent client service such as establishing plans and objectives, adopting strong program/project management, and implementing practices to achieve high quality deliverables within expected timeframes. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.

Develop and maintain productive relationships with client management and colleagues. Focus on deliverables and client business priorities.Manage expectations of service and scope.Understand the client's industry and recognize key performance drivers and business trends.

Demonstrate high level of technical and professional knowledge and quickly assimilate new knowledge. Keep up to date with current developments and trends in consulting services capabilities and industry knowledge.Get involved in the development of points of view, thought leadership, business development and market opportunities.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Experience in the delivery of a variety of technology related strategy and transformation projects such as operating model design, service delivery transformation (Outsourcing and Shared Services), tech-enabled business transformations, value creation strategies, strategic technology planning process; and enterprise cost reduction enabled by technology
• Management and technology consulting experience with a federal gov clients delivering successful, high-impact technology transformation projects
• A minimum of 3+ years’ experience with a consulting firm offering management and technology consulting services along with a successful track record in the consulting or project delivery space either as a technology strategy consultant or a role in industry within technology transformation and strategic planning

Ideally, you’ll also have

• A post graduate degree or relevant professional designation (MBA or MSC are preferred. Certifications such as PMP/PRINCE2, ITIL, SAFe and others are considered relevant)
• Experience with project delivery lifecycle management tools such as JIRA and Microsoft Project
• Experience in SAP S/4 HANA projects is an asset

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.
