Position Summary

We are seeking a Technical Designer to join our Engineering (TecE) Applications team, working under the direction of our Senior Engineers. This is a hands-on detailing and design role for someone who loves precise, careful design work. You will produce accurate CAD drawings and 3D models, detail fabrication projects, and prepare engineering submittals for vibration control and thermal control supporting turning engineering concepts and project specifications into complete, buildable drawing packages, and selecting products and configuring support systems to meet each project's specified performance criteria. This is a dedicated technical design role for someone who wants to grow as a designer and deepen their craft over time, rather than a pathway into a professional engineering position. It is deep, focused design work with clear standards, where getting it exactly right matters, and where you will build genuine mastery of our products and details over time. No prior background in vibration, thermal, or building mechanical systems is required as we train that in-house.

Key Responsibilities

• Produces detailed CAD drawings and 3D models for fabrication: shop and fabrication drawings, details, and bills of material, to an exacting standard

• Details fabrication projects, translating engineering concepts and specifications into complete, accurate, buildable drawing packages

• Prepares engineering submittals for vibration control, including product and application selections that meet the project's specified criteria

• Prepares engineering submittals for thermal control; riser and expansion schematics, and the design and selection of support systems (guides, anchors, and expansion devices) that meet the specified criteria

• Reads and interprets construction drawings, specifications, and equipment data sheets to inform selections and details

• Maintains revision control and CAD data management; keeps drawing records accurate, current, and organized

• Applies drawing and detailing standards (e.g., GD&T, ANSI) and our internal conventions consistently, the same correct way every time

• Sees each drawing package through from concept to release, confirming completeness and accuracy before it goes out

• Works under the direction of the Senior Engineer and collaborates with the Applications team, project managers, and the shop floor

Required Skills and Qualifications

Our design team is trusted with the details that make a project buildable, and the reason is consistent: they are precise, patient, and genuinely detail-oriented, and they take pride in getting it exactly right. That's the person we're looking to add. The successful candidate will have:

• A post-secondary diploma or degree in, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related design field, or equivalent hands-on design experience

• 1-2 years of hands-on experience in CAD, technical design, drafting, detailing, or a related production/design environment, with the ability to build on that foundation through coaching in our company standards, procedures, and application-specific requirements

• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD - AutoCAD and a modelling package (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and a willingness to learn our tools and standards

• A working knowledge of drawing and detailing for manufacturing: fabrication and shop drawings, bills of material, and drawing standards

• Experience in reading construction drawings, mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment data sheets

• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail; getting it exactly right is the job

• Patience and focus for deep, detailed work, and pride in consistent, high-quality output

• A methodical, disciplined approach; does things the correct way every time and works well within established standards

• Sound judgment and initiative with the ability to take ownership of assigned work, move tasks forward independently, and recognise when review, guidance, or approval is needed before proceedingA genuine interest in building a long-term career as a technical designer, with motivation to develop depth and mastery in detailing, CAD, and production design work

• An eagerness to learn our products and our vibration, thermal, and support-system knowledge over time

Entry level knowledge in vibration, thermal, or building mechanical systems is a strong asset; application-specific standards, procedures, and product details will be taught in-house through coaching from our senior engineers and subject-matter experts.
