Job description
Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children Youth and Families is a multi service non-profit organization serving Inuit children youth and their families. We are dedicated to providing cultural educational and support services in a caring respectful and collaborative environment that fosters strong and proud Inuit children and # 2026-189Position Title Student Support Services Worker-BTGPosting Date June 1 2026Hours Full time Position Status Replacement- Determinate effective until July 30 2027 Salary Range Starting salary of $49750.00 annually plus benefits POSITION SUMMARY Under the the supervision of the Manager of Education the Student Support Services Worker (SSSW) will report directly to the BTG Program Supervisor. The SSSW will develop trusting relationships with students parents and community partners and provide social-emotional well-being and case management support. The SSSW will also support community members both within schools and in the broader community while sharing relevant cultural information with community addition the SSSW will develop and implement student success plans for both elementary and secondary DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPlan and deliver all aspects of BTG programming e.g. individual supports referrals group activities the Student Success Plan as required by the funder based on the needs of the the development and implementation of a full range of programs/services as identified in the Student Success safe and culturally appropriate BTG activities to youth and community and guide participants through all activities including unstructured and report on concerns and issues related to the delivery of BTG programs and services to the Supervisor and Manager of issues that arise in delivery of BTG youth participants safety and well-being during all activities e.g. safe environment equipment maintenance staff/youth ratios head counts safety policies any accidents/incidents to the Manager of Education and coordinate culturally appropriate occasional staff guest speakers Elders and resource people for the case load of 20-25 clients through out the school year . Plan and purchase supplies for programs and activities including and model positive group management strategies to maintain participant safety and engagement in closely with Transportation Company to provide safe and appropriate transportation services to meaningful relationships with Inuit youth through consistent responsive and well-planned engagement Provide one-on-one support and facilitate regular group programming that strengthens connections to culture and community Deliver emotional support to children and youth including crisis intervention and conflict resolution when required Collaborate with government staff and caregivers to develop and implement individualized safety plans Coordinate access to cultural resources including Elders and knowledge keepers to promote cultural identity and learning Contribute as an active team member to program development planning and facilitationQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSPost secondary education in related field an assetMinimum of two years related experience with youthExperience working with Inuit and Aboriginal communitiesCase management experience an assetSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEFluency in Inuktitut would be an assetKnowledge of the needs of Inuit children and of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and to communicate effectively orally and in to operate computer systems and relevant organizational program planning evaluation fiscal management and problem-solving skills.
