ADGA is seeking a Senior Operational Technology (OT) and Cybersecurity Systems Specialist. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments planning and design activities related to Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology/Operational Technology (IT/OT) environments supporting critical infrastructure and facilities. The role focuses on evaluating cyber resiliency modernizing legacy systems and recommending secure scalable architectures in accordance with industry best practices and Government of Canada and Department of National Defence (DND) requirements.
Working within multidisciplinary teams the specialist will perform assessments of industrial and building systems across various DND facilities throughout Canada and develop strategic recommendations to improve cyber posture operational resilience and integration between OT and enterprise IT networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory document and assess OT and IT assets systems interfaces and facility infrastructure environments.
- Perform detailed assessments of operational technology and facility control systems including building automation digital controls lighting management physical security and safety systems industrial control systems PLCs and SCADA environments.
- Identify system dependencies communication protocols operational requirements and IT/OT interconnections.
- Develop and maintain asset inventories system diagrams interface documentation and data flows.
- Evaluate the cybersecurity posture resiliency and operational continuity of OT environments and their integration with enterprise IT networks.
- Conduct cybersecurity assessments and gap analyses using recognized industry and Government of Canada standards and frameworks including NIST IEC 62443 and ITSG-33.
- Identify vulnerabilities risks single points of failure and impacts to confidentiality integrity and availability.
- Recommend mitigation strategies security controls segmentation approaches and architectural improvements.
- Analyze modernization and IT/OT convergence options through trade-off assessments considering cybersecurity operational requirements lifecycle costs maintainability and resiliency.
- Develop conceptual and detailed network architectures secure communication strategies remote access solutions and monitoring capabilities for OT and IT/OT environments.
- Produce technical documentation and design deliverables including network diagrams segmentation strategies integration designs and migration roadmaps.
- Conduct holistic studies and options analyses for critical infrastructure and operational technology environments.
- Develop technical reports executive summaries and strategic recommendations supporting modernization lifecycle management and implementation planning.
- Collaborate with DND stakeholders facility managers engineers IT teams and external vendors.
- Facilitate technical workshops requirements gathering sessions and stakeholder consultations.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide subject matter expertise related to OT cybersecurity and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Qualifications :
- University degree or college diploma in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Systems Engineering Industrial Automation Cybersecurity Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Operational Technology (OT) industrial automation or critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience assessing and designing systems involving:
- Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC)
- SCADA systems
- Industrial Control Systems (ICS)
- PLC-based control systems
- Physical Security and Safety Systems
- Experience inventorying and documenting OT assets and architectures.
- Experience conducting OT cybersecurity assessments and risk analyses.
- Experience developing secure network architectures and IT/OT integration strategies.
- Experience preparing technical studies options analyses and recommendations for critical infrastructure projects.
- Experience working within federal government defence utilities transportation or other critical infrastructure sectors is considered an asset.
- One or more of the following certifications are considered assets:
- CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional
- GICSP Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional
- ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Certificate
- CCNP or CCIE
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA)

Additional Information :
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance and other clearances as required
- Willingness to travel to Department of National Defence facilities across Canada as required.
- The posted range reflects the contract rate for an incorporated consultant. Employee salary ranges will differ and are based on the total compensation package including benefits and other employment-related considerations.
