Build bold. Deliver impact. Win together.

At General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada, we’re not just engineering technology — we’re shaping the future of defence and security. Our teams design and deliver advanced, mission-critical solutions that enhance national security, strengthen communities, and protect the people we serve.

If you’re looking for meaningful work that contributes to a safer, more secure world, you’ll find purpose here. Every day, your skills will directly impact programs that matter.

Job Description

We are looking for Senior Systems Engineering Analysts to join the Headquarters (HQ) Systems Engineering (SE) Team. As a member of the HQ SE team, you will work on the Canadian Armed Forces’ Land Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance - Targeting (C5ISR-T) program. The C5ISR-T system provides the Armed Forces with a highly integrated tactical system comprised of communication systems such as radios and telephony, core networking systems that connect intelligence and surveillance assets, battle management systems that enable streamlined operations, and information management systems that process large amounts and types of data. The HQ SE team plays a key role in defining detailed design of the C5ISR-T “Headquarters” systems.

Based in either our Ottawa or Calgary facility, the ideal candidate would undertake a number of different initiatives, including (but not limited to) developing system requirements, modelling the system using MBSE techniques, and contextualizing the operational use cases of the system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the customer, the Department of National Defence (DND) to elicit and define System requirements and desired capabilities.
  • Develop activity, sequence, use case, and block definition diagrams to describe mission scenarios and use cases.
  • Develop system requirements, interface specifications, and end-to-end information flows.
  • Manage the traceability of higher-level requirements to lower-level requirements and to test artifacts.
  • Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques to develop Operational and System Views according to DNDAF and UAF.
  • Support testing activities including verification and validation of requirements, reviewing test cases, and producing Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs).
  • Present status updates and conduct reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assume responsibility for deliverables and work products, and ensure you are meeting program commitments and achieving program milestones.

Qualifications

What You Need to Have to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required.
  • 7-10+ years of applicable system engineering or related experience.
  • Experience working with complex systems.
  • Extensive experience deriving, writing, and linking requirements in a database.
  • Experience utilizing MBSE techniques and tools to model complex systems.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Passion for mentorship and sharing knowledge.
  • Demonstrated capability of meeting commitments and delivering high quality work products.
  • Knowledge of the trends in the needs of the military and of the operational context of deployed soldiers

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience developing cloud-based networks and infrastructure.
  • Experience with the automation of server builds and deployment.
  • Experience with system security for networks, endpoints, and application/data levels.
  • Experience designing virtualization and containerization systems.
  • Service (Reserve or Regular) in any branch of the Canadian Armed Forces.
  • Experience with Agile ceremonies and work execution techniques (Scrum, PI Planning, Story Points, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of Systems Engineering standards and best practices (such as INCOSE).
  • Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models
  • Experience working with a government customer in a direct or indirect capacity.
