We’ve opened a role in our Ottawa office for a talented, entrepreneurial Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to work alongside exceptional people in JLR’s Industrial Electrical and Automation group.

Your Role as Instrumentation & Controls Engineer:

Choose your own adventure! Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home at JLR. As the Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, your role will include:

• Prepare and review engineering deliverables for industrial facilities, including: PLC/HMI control system architectures I/O lists and control narratives Loop diagrams and wiring schematics Network architecture drawings Control panel drawings
• Specification and wiring design for field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, analyzers, etc.)
• Design of instrumentation and controls for hazardous classified areas.
• Apply and interpret safety standards such as: CSA Z432 / ISO 12100 ISO 13849 / IEC 62061 IEC 61511
• Design machine and process safety circuits, including: Safety PLCs and relays Emergency stops, interlocks, light curtains, and safety scanners Safety instrumented functions
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
• Provide commissioning support and troubleshooting at client sites
• Collaborate on designs with electrical, mechanical, and process teams within JLR.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CEC, ISA, CSA)
• Support proposal development and cost estimates for engineering services
• Designing, conducting internal coordination, project management, of Industrial projects, from concept through to completion.
• Assisting with the management of workload of technicians and designers to ensure that project deadlines are met, and final deliverables align with client expectations.
• Mentoring junior engineers, engineering graduates, and technologists.
