End-to-End Tech Lead (NARP & Business Banking)

Apex Systems is supporting a Top 5 Canadian bank in hiring an End-to-End Tech Lead to support NARP (North American Retail Payments) and Business Banking portfolios.

This role requires a hands-on, technically credible leader who can own end-to-end design, data orchestration, and system integration across complex, multi-platform banking environments. The ideal candidate operates as a technical owner and translator between business and engineering, with strong depth in data, APIs, and batch processing.

Line of Business

• NARP (North American Retail Payments) – API/channel-driven, real-time integrations
• Business Banking (P&BB Technology) – data-driven, backend & relationship-focused systems

Key Objectives

• Own end-to-end technical delivery across Payments and Business Banking initiatives
• Lead data orchestration, integration strategy, and system design across multiple platforms
• Act as the primary technical translator between business stakeholders and engineering teams
• Ensure alignment across API (real-time) and batch (data) integration flows

Core Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end system design, integration, and delivery
• Drive API integrations (REST, SOAP, MQ messaging) and batch/data processing flows
• Define and manage data requirements, transformations, and orchestration across systems
• Coordinate across Solution Architects, BAs, developers, and testing teams
• Support test cycles (SIT, UAT, E2E) and triage integration-related issues
• Lead technical design documentation and cross-platform delivery alignment
• Act as technical owner across multiple applications and platforms (5–50+ systems)
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes and requirements

Tech Lead Expectations

• Hybrid Tech Lead + BSA capability Able to query, interpret, and translate data requirementsComfortable bridging business and technical conversations
• Deep understanding of: Data orchestration (must-have)API + batch integration models (must have both)Data flows across upstream/downstream systems
• Ability to: Simplify complex processesAsk the right questions across technical and business domainsLead with hands-on credibility (not just oversight)
• May guide/manage BSAs and ensure alignment across requirements

Domain-Specific Requirements

NARP (Retail Payments)

• API-first architecture (channel-driven systems)
• Real-time messaging (MQ) + downstream risk system integrations
• Experience supporting payments ecosystems and transactional systems

Business Banking

• Strong data-driven environments (non-channel, backend focus)
• Experience with data orchestration, transformation, and relationship-driven systems
• Ability to work across non-standardized data stacks (Python, SQL, etc.)

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years software development experience + 3+ years in a Tech Lead role
• Strong experience with: System integrations & data mappingAPIs (REST/SOAP), messaging, and batch processing SQL and data-focused development
• Proven experience delivering complex, multi-system banking projects
• Understanding of: SDLC (Agile + Waterfall) Security frameworks (, PKI, OAuth, encryption concepts)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Logistics

• Location: Downtown Toronto
• Work Model: Hybrid – 2 days onsite (Tuesdays & Thursdays)
• Contract: 6 months to start, strong extension potential
