What is the opportunity?Join our U.S. Technology Strategy and Architecture team as Director, Technology Product Strategy, where you will play a key role in supporting the development and execution of technology strategy across RBC’s U.S. organization.Working closely with U.S. Technology Strategy & Architecture leadership, business lines, technology teams, and enterprise architecture, you will help shape the strategic direction of the U.S. technology organization. You will analyze the technology landscape, support strategic planning and investment decisions, and work across business and technology teams to advance key priorities.This role provides broad exposure across the U.S. technology organization and an opportunity to work on some of its most important strategic questions. You will combine structured problem solving, technology knowledge, stakeholder management, and executive communication to support senior leaders in making informed technology decisions and advancing the U.S. technology agenda.What will you do?

  • Support target-state strategy development: Partner with Technology Strategy & Architecture leadership to develop and maintain forward-looking U.S. technology strategy and, where required, business-line technology strategies. Gather inputs, assess strategic alternatives, and translate direction into clear target-state objectives, principles, KPIs, and priorities.
  • Maintain a view of the technology estate: Develop and maintain a comprehensive view of the U.S. technology landscape, bringing together information on applications, platforms, infrastructure, capabilities, dependencies, and investments to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Conduct strategic analyses: Perform structured, point-in-time analyses of technology opportunities, challenges, and strategic questions. Synthesize quantitative and qualitative information, evaluate alternatives, and develop recommendations for leadership consideration.
  • Support strategic alignment: Work with business and technology stakeholders to assess the alignment of major initiatives, programs, and investments with U.S. technology strategy and enterprise priorities. Identify potential gaps or areas of misalignment and support development of appropriate actions.
  • Support roadmap and funding decisions: Develop analyses and decision materials that help leadership evaluate technology roadmaps, investment priorities, dependencies, trade-offs, and funding requirements.
  • Support architecture governance and control: Partner with Enterprise Architecture and technology teams to facilitate architecture governance activities, track strategic and architectural decisions, identify areas requiring escalation, and support alignment with established architecture principles and target states.
  • Coordinate strategic planning activities: Support recurring strategy, roadmap, portfolio, and governance processes across the U.S. technology organization, ensuring stakeholders have the information and analysis required to make timely decisions.
  • Develop executive-level materials: Translate complex technology topics into concise presentations, recommendations, business cases, and decision materials for senior technology and business leadership.
  • Monitor strategic progress: Develop and maintain KPIs, KRIs, and other measures that provide visibility into progress against technology strategies, roadmaps, strategic initiatives, and architectural objectives.
  • Build organizational capability: Support the development and adoption of frameworks, methodologies, tools, templates, and ways of working that strengthen technology strategy and architecture capabilities across the U.S. organization.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate across business lines, technology teams, architecture, finance, risk, and other stakeholders to gather inputs, resolve issues, and support decisions on cross-cutting technology priorities.
  • Identify emerging issues and opportunities: Analyze trends across the technology estate and external technology landscape to identify potential capability gaps, duplication, architectural constraints, emerging technologies, and opportunities for strategic improvement.

What do you need to succeed?Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in technology, business, engineering, finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience across technology strategy, enterprise architecture, technology transformation, management consulting, technology program management, or related disciplines.
  • Strong strategic and analytical capabilities, with demonstrated experience structuring ambiguous problems and developing fact-based recommendations.
  • Ability to understand complex technology environments and connect technology considerations to broader business and strategic objectives.
  • Experience supporting technology strategies, roadmaps, business cases, investment decisions, operating models, or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear presentations and decision materials.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across business and technology organizations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Strong understanding of technology and/or the financial services industry.
  • Experience using current AI tooling to support research, automate repetitive tasks, analyze large data sets, etc.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation.
