We are currently seeking a PM with M&A expereince to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario (CA-ON), Canada (CA).
Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Canada, Remote (Must support EMEA hours)
Role Purpose
The Project Manager is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of assigned programs and projects within the portfolio. This role ensures initiatives are delivered on scope, schedule, budget, and quality while contributing to portfolio savings targets and value realization commitments.
The Project Manager translates approved portfolio strategy into executable plans and operates under the direction of the Portfolio Lead within established PMO governance standards. Additionally, this role will support client-specific initiatives, including PSX integration and M&A integration activities, ensuring seamless alignment with business and technical requirements across global teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Delivery & Execution
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans covering scope, schedule, cost, and resources
- Define deliverables, milestones, and success criteria
- Lead cross-functional teams in matrixed environments
- Monitor project timelines and proactively address delays
- Manage scope through formal change control processes
- Ensure adherence to PMO methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)
- Drive and support PSX integration and M&A integration initiatives, ensuring alignment across systems, stakeholders, and timelines
- Coordinate integration deliverables, dependencies, and testing phases related to PSX and acquired entities/systems
- Support post-merger integration planning, including systems harmonization, data migration, and process alignment
- Conduct formal project closure including lessons learned and financial reconciliation
2. Financial Management
- Develop and manage detailed project budgets (CapEx/OpEx)
- Track actuals vs. forecasts and identify variances early
- Maintain ≤10% forecast variance unless rebaselined
- Support monthly financial reviews with Portfolio Lead
- Identify cost optimization and avoidance opportunities
- Validate project savings and benefits
- Ensure audit-ready financial documentation
3. Risk & Issue Management
- Maintain active risk and issue logs
- Assess risk probability and impact
- Develop mitigation and contingency plans
- Escalate portfolio-level risks when required
- Manage risks related to PSX integration and M&A activities, including technical dependencies, organizational change, and data migration challenges
- Resolve critical issues within defined SLAs
- Conduct risk reviews at key project milestones
4. Stakeholder & Communication Management
- Identify stakeholders and define engagement strategies
- Facilitate steering committee meetings
- Provide weekly status reports (RAG status, financials, risks)
- Escalate decisions beyond project authority
- Manage stakeholder expectations transparently
- Act as a key coordination point between business, IT, vendors, and M&A stakeholders (e.g., integration teams, acquired entities)
- Ensure effective collaboration across EMEA time zones
- Address conflicts proactively and professionally
5. Benefits & Value Realization
- Partner with business owners to define measurable benefits
- Develop and maintain benefits tracking plans
- Ensure benefits are realistic, quantified, and baseline-supported
- Track benefits realization post go-live
- Escalate risks to benefit realization early
- Validate savings in alignment with PMO frameworks
6. Governance & Compliance
- Ensure project intake documentation is complete
- Confirm business case approval before execution
- Maintain decision logs and audit trails
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and data security requirements
- Maintain documentation supporting integration governance (PSX & M&A) and audit readiness
- Prepare documentation for governance reviews
7. Resource & Vendor Management
- Coordinate internal and external resources
- Identify and address capacity gaps early
- Manage vendor deliverables, timelines, and costs
- Ensure contract compliance and scope clarity
- Coordinate third-party vendors involved in PSX and M&A integration efforts
Key Competencies & Skills
- Strong knowledge of project management frameworks (PMBOK, Agile, Hybrid)
- Experience managing system integrations and M&A integration programs
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms (PSX or similar systems preferred)
- Proficiency in tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Planview
- Financial management and cost control expertise
- Risk management and mitigation planning
- Change control management
- Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills
- Ability to operate effectively across EMEA time zones
- Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; PMP or equivalent certification preferred
- 8+ years of project management experience
- Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations
- Proven track record managing projects ranging from $5K to $5M
- 3 to 5 years of experience in system integration projects and M&A/post-merger integration initiatives required
- 3 to 5 years of experience in regulated industries (life sciences, pharma, GxP) preferred
