Job Description
The role will be responsible for :
- Revenue recognition;
- Hedge accounting / financial instruments;
- Share-based payments;
- Lease accounting;
- Acquisitions / disposals accounting (the Ardonagh Group is highly acquisitive);
- Goodwill impairment;
- Transitioning subsidiaries from FRS 102 to FRS 101;
- Financial statements review;
- Group accounting policy manual; and
- Numerous other complex accounting matters.
Ardonagh is a large (circa 12,000 employees and growing), acquisitive and highly complex private-equity backed group. There are consequently a multitude of significant and one-off technical accounting issues to address.
This role involves regular interactions with the business and requires timely decision-making, whilst nevertheless documenting important decisions in an accounting memorandum or briefing note.
Updating of accounting policy manuals is an important part of the role, but the primary focus of this job is on resolving business issues (application, not just theory).
This role requires a technically-minded person who is delivery-focussed and a doer.
Strong oral and written communication skills are a prerequisite. You will interact on a regular basis with senior individuals, auditors and legal advisors.
Ardonagh Group functions are home-based (not just whilst coronavirus persists), but with some travel to London (expected to be approximately once per fortnight).
Qualifications and Experience :
- Education Degree (or equivalent).
- Specialised Knowledge IFRS, FRS 102, FRS 101.
- Microsoft Office Intermediate or advanced level.
- Professional Certification ACA, with significant post-qualification experience (including Big 4 and industry experience).
- Experience - Technical accounting / accounting policy, particularly IFRS.

- ACA, fully qualified, with significant post-qualification experience.
- Big 4 (within external audit) and industry experience.
- IFRS technical accounting / accounting policy experience.
- Ability to write well, and strong communication skills generally.
Desirable :
- FRS 102 / FRS 101 experience.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Initiative, proactivity, enquiring approach, resourcefulness.
- Adaptability, ability to embrace and respond positively to change.
