The Opportunity :
Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Supervisor leads and influences the HR activities at the unionized Winnipeg manufacturing facility.
The Human Resources Supervisor has the direct accountability for ensuring that the Human Resources planning, and results (Performance Management, Recruitment, Recognition, Training and Development, Engagement and Communication) are aligned to meet the Plant and MLF operations and business needs.
This leader should clearly know and understand the value of maximizing employee discretionary performance, through an engaging leadership style.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life :
- Oversee and provide coaching and direction to a team of Human Resources Coordinators and Administrators in the delivery of HR programs and services to the plant.
- Deliver HR advisory services, direction and support to managers, supervisors and staff in areas such as employee development, performance management, human rights, employment law, policy interpretation and conflict resolution.
- Work with the Human Resources Manager in developing effective strategies for improving overall employee relations and retention.
- Supervise and ensure the effective execution of the recruitment.
- Work closely with area managers / supervisors to forecast, develop and implement cost-effective strategies for effectively sourcing of candidates.
- Track, analyze and report on key HR performance indicators such as attendance, recruitment, turnover and retention.
- Carry out workplace investigations as required on employee complaints, work-related issues and labour relations matters.
- Provide coaching to area Managers on conducting performance reviews, performance improvement plans and provide timely performance feedback.
- Execute and facilitate HR training and coaching initiatives to salaried and hourly employees.
- Provide training and development to supervisors and managers on HR, legal, labour and employee relations issues.
- Represent Company in Joint Labour Relations meetings with local Union executive and representative(s).
- Support process improvement 6 Sigma activities related to Human Resources.
- Replaces the Human Resources Manager during their absence.
What You’ll Bring :
- Post-secondary degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Commerce or Business Administration.
- CPHR designation is preferred.
- A well-developed HR Professional with a solid Generalist and Change Management background
- A proven track record of proactively managing the Labour / Management relationship.
- Passionate about coaching, mentoring and developing people to achieve positions of greater responsibility.
- Strong business and operational acumen particularly within manufacturing and / or food processing.
- Demonstrated initiative, drive and leadership; excellent communication skills.
- Results orientated, able to work as part of a functional team; must be an exceptional fit with our Maple Leaf Leadership Edge Core Values.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, possess the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments involving sensitive and confidential issues under stressful conditions.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems including SAP
