General Description :

Under general supervision, acts as a building guard and inquiry person in a major campus building.

Typical Duties :

The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of responsibility involved in this job.

They in no way limit the incumbent to the duties indicated.

  • Opens building at opening time and secures it at the end of normal business;
  • Observes incoming individuals, restraining those not properly in the building;
  • Gives information as to location of individuals and the proper officer to receive individual inquiries;
  • May receive articles for delivery in the building;
  • From directories or lists, gives inquirers the location or telephone number of desired offices elsewhere on the campus;
  • Prepares reports;
  • Contacts Campus Safety in case of emergency;
  • Other related duties as required.

Essential Qualifications

Education :

Completion of Grade Twelve or equivalent.

Experience :

Minimum of one year of related working experience.

Other :

  • Ability to meet the public effectively and to exercise judgment and tact.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (orally and written).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid License to Act as a Security Guard and / or Private Investigator issued by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
  • May be required to possess and maintain a valid non-probationary "G" Ontario Drivers License.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Level "C"CPR and Standard Level First Aid Certificate through a recognized provider.
  • Must maintain clean criminal record.

Additional Notes :

10-hour shifts; 40 hours a week. Service Operates 24 / 7.
