We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Risk Specialist to join our Risk Management team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Risk and Auditor Manager , you will safeguard company assets and financial interests and ensure customer satisfaction by efficiently managing insurance-related tasks, particularly claims, ensuring timely resolution and effective risk mitigation.
You will be responsible for :
- Managing insurance claims, including customer incidents, building damage, and product loss.
- Assisting in obtaining and managing insurance certificates for vendors and partners.
- Coordinating the annual insurance renewals.
- Managing the subrogation process, and pursuing recovery from responsible parties.
- Analyzing and mitigating risks to minimize insurance costs and ensure adequate coverage.
- Collaborating with the insurance team to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures.
- Serving as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding insurance matters, providing guidance and support as needed.
You have :
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Designation in Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Canadian Risk Management (CRM), or in progress.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial insurance with exposure to claims management, preferably in a retail setting.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.

- Highly organized with the ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- An excellent verbal and written communicator with strong negotiation abilities.
- Skilled at fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Meticulous in handling insurance documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction by managing claims efficiently and effectively.
- Adaptable to changing insurance landscapes and business needs.
- Capable of acting with a high degree of tact and confidentiality.
- Self-aware, empathetic, and possessing a high level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
