Job Overview :

The CNC Machine Operator (12-Axis) in the jewelry industry is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining multi-axis CNC machines to create precise jewelry components.

The operator must ensure that the machines are running efficiently and accurately, adhering to tight tolerances, quality standards, and production schedules.

This position requires a high level of technical expertise, precision, and attention to detail, as well as knowledge of working with various precious metals and other materials used in jewelry manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities :

Machine Setup & Operation :

  • Set up, operate, and program CNC 12-axis machines for the production of jewelry components.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to create the required components.
  • Adjust machine settings (feeds, speeds, tooling) to ensure the quality of the final product.
  • Load raw materials (precious metals, stones, etc.) into the machine.

Programming & Troubleshooting :

  • Write or modify CNC programs using G-code or other software as required.
  • Identify and resolve issues with machine programming, tools, or processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers or designers to ensure optimal machine performance.

Quality Control :

  • Inspect parts during and after production using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Ensure all parts meet design specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance to ensure machines are operating correctly and efficiently.

Safety & Maintenance :

  • Follow all company safety protocols when operating machinery and handling materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to prevent downtime and ensure long-term operational efficiency.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.

Production & Efficiency :

  • Maintain production timelines by efficiently setting up and running the machine.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure continuous production and troubleshoot any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Work closely with other production team members to meet daily production goals.

Required Qualifications :

  • Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating CNC machines, preferably in the jewelry or similar precision-based industries.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Proficient in programming and operating 12-axis CNC machines.
  • Strong knowledge of G-code, CAD / CAM software, and CNC control systems.
  • Familiarity with various materials used in jewelry production (gold, silver, platinum, etc.).
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Attention to Detail : Ability to work with tight tolerances and fine measurements to create intricate and detailed jewelry components.
  • Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to identify and troubleshoot machine or production issues.
  • Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for extended periods and lift light to moderate weight.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working in a high-end jewelry manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of gemstone setting, engraving, or other fine jewelry techniques.
