Job Description :
The Composite Tooling Technician is responsible for the production ready state of all tooling; including masters, moulds, jigs, fixtures, templates and production aides. The incumbent will also provide recommendations for safety improvements, cost savings and new tooling initiatives.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Production - Tooling Readiness
Maintain surfaces of layup tools by sanding and sealing.
Replacing Tool Tec as required.
Replacing bushings, locating pins, threaded inserts, vacuum lines, etc. as required.
Maintain tooling per PM Work Orders and production requirements.
Production - Tooling Development & Implementation
Update new tooling information and PM schedule in the PM Program.
Update and maintain master tooling list.
Participate in tooling design reviews for outsourcing projects to ensure AHCA standards are followed.
Participate in new product / part introduction (composite) to ensure all AHCA manufacturing needs are met (tolerances, dimensions, quality, OTD).
Continuous Improvement
Support and participate in all Continuous Improvement initiatives of AHCA
New Business
Participate in team reviews of new business or revisions to existing business.
Review parameters of new business or changes to existing business and their overall effect on the current equipment and its capability.
EDUCATION
Ontario Secondary School Diploma
EXPERIENCE
Working experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum five years’ experience in a technical field
Experience in aerospace or automotive required
Composite assembly & bonding experience
Core cutting experience
Experience using autoclaves, curing ovens, thermal presses
Experience with composite layup (pre-preg and wet layup) & vacuum bagging processes
Experience with part surface preparation, priming and painting
Metal & wood working experience
Pattern and template making
