Classification : Residential Support Worker The Fort St. John Association for Community Living (FSJACL) is a non-profit agency committed to providing quality support to adults with developmental disabilities in the Fort St.
John and District since 1960. As a CARF accredited agency, FSJACL boasts a professional staff team of over 70 employees dedicated to offering quality services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Collaboration with community partners is integral to achieving the organization's vision of inclusion for all. Responsibilities : As an Outreach Support Worker in the Supported-Independent Living Program, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals living independently in the community.
Key responsibilities include : Organizing service hours based on the individuals' wants and needs, accommodating their preferred times for support.
Supporting individuals in self-determination and safety skills within the community. Enhancing the quality of life for those served by promoting health, choice, skill-building, and community inclusion.
Key Duties : Service Coordination : Collaborate with individuals to organize service hours according to their preferences.
Ensure flexibility in scheduling to meet the diverse needs of individuals. Support in Self-Determination and Safety : Assist individuals in developing and strengthening self-determination skills.
Provide guidance and support for safety skills within the community. Quality of Life Enhancement : Foster a supportive environment that promotes health and choice.
Facilitate skill-building activities to empower individuals. Community Inclusion : Plan and engage individuals in activities that encourage community participation.
Promote a sense of belonging and inclusion within the community. Skills and Attributes : Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
Time management and flexibility with service times. Initiative and trustworthy towards job. Ability to lead and teach. Qualifications : Class 5 Driver’s license and reliable vehicle (compensated for personal vehicle use as per the Collective Agreement).
Able to pass a criminal record check. Outgoing and creative personality. Computer and documentation skills, including writing, completing logs, and creating overviews.
Applicants should be comfortable dealing with varying degrees of individual needs and abilities. Union membership is required for this position.
We are looking for individuals with flexible schedules, rotating between days and evenings, weekdays and weekends, at 37.
5 hours per week. Dates and times for shifts will vary based on individuals supported. This is a BCGEU unionized position, grid level 10.
