Landscape & Grounds Specialist

Position Details

Zeeland Public Schools has a great opportunity for a Landscape Grounds Specialist. The Landscape Grounds Specialist will ensure the district landscape, grounds and irrigation systems are maintained in the best possible condition with a positive appearance.

Responsibilities:

• Ability to maintain district trees, plantings, flower beds, and grounds which will include trimming, weeding, pruning, planting, barking, edging, watering, etc.
• Perform other grounds tasks such as mowing, trash and leaf removal. Help maintain natural plantings.
• Perform inspections and maintenance on equipment.
• Seasonal tasks including snow removal and spring ground repairs.
• Miscellaneous duties will include moving school and athletic equipment, setting up/tearing down equipment, and helping the district as needed.

Qualifications:

• Landscaping experience is preferred.
• Must be able to pass a background check and be fingerprinted.
• Must have the ability to see the need for improvement on district grounds and envision/implement possible improvements. Must be self-motivated.
• Must be able to work outside in adverse conditions, physically able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally other heavy physical labor.
• Ability to operate all grounds equipment, wide range of power tools, tractors, trucks, and snow removal equipment used by the district.
• Ability to work with others effectively including coaches, school staff, vendors, and the recreation department to accomplish tasks.

Schedule:
Monday through Friday
7:00 am – 3:30 pm
40 hours per week.
Year-Round Position

Compensation:
Level III $19.26 – $22.51 per hour
