Our client is a unique organization based in the Greater Vancouver Area. We are looking for a Capital Project Engineer to join their team.

They offer a collaborative and close-knit work environment with the flexibility to work from home 4 days a week, apart from construction and engineering meetings required on site.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an engineer with a background in civil engineering or construction management to join their team.

Capital projects are diverse and exciting.

This position is responsible for planning, design review, and construction of capital works projects. This position also oversees contract management of capital projects pertaining to municipal infrastructure, government facilities, parks infrastructure, and commercial and multi-family residential construction.

Responsibilities :

  • Develops, implements and oversees project related scopes of work, schedules and budgets.
  • Provides professional and technical expertise, guidance and direction to staff.
  • Prioritizes the assigned projects through continuous review and updates.
  • Coordinates and manages a range of funding and grant agreements, ensuring the fulfillment of all obligations and commitments for timely access to funding streams.
  • Assists with value engineering on projects with the design team for cost-efficient solutions.
  • Reviews the work of engineering and architectural consultants and contractors for capital projects.
  • Oversees procurement, manages contractor relationships, and enforces compliance.
  • Maintains project documentation and provides regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Prepares reports and recommendations for presentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • 5-10 years of engineering experience in road construction, utilities and facilities projects.
  • Project management experience in commercial, multi-unit residential construction, and municipal infrastructure.
  • Professional engineering (P.Eng.) designation is desired but not necessarily required.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Knowledge of building design and construction techniques.
  • Broad engineering and construction knowledge in multiple disciplines is an asset.
  • Ability to manage time-sensitive and high priority projects.
  • Experience conducting post project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Able to work independently and develop initiatives and programs in response to the needs of the department as well as corporate policies and goals.
  • Willingness to be flexible in a changing work environment.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and communications.
  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
