WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Senior BA / Business Data Analyst will be part of an investment data operations team, ensuring the timely availability of accurate investment data in the cloud investment data warehouse and data marketplace.
Data operations ensure that investment applications have complete information for business users daily. This includes monitoring the daily cycle of events, ensuring data integrity and availability, data reconciliation, pricing integrity, security master, and the integrity of reference and market data.
The Business Data Analyst will assist in implementing data quality best practices. Data governance practice ensures the investment data's integrity, usability, and transparency, identifying and resolving data issues, and assisting in onboarding and operationalizing new data.
The position requires strong problem-solving and analytical skill set, coupled with investment operations knowledge, data loading and scheduling, managing reference and market data, and systems testing experience.
The candidate should be SQL literate and comfortable navigating databases.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of investment management principles and practices with exposure to marketable securities, derivatives, private placements, infrastructure, and real estate.
- Highly analytical with strong consulting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with databases and advanced knowledge of report development concepts.
- Utilized analytical techniques to extract, clean, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources.
- Advanced competency in SQL.
- Competency in Python is a definite asset.
- Proactive and results-oriented with good time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure and focus on multiple tasks concurrently.
- Post-secondary training in finance or equivalent experience. Completion of Canadian Securities Course. Enrolment or completion of professional training (e.
g. CBAP, PMP) is not required but will be an asset.
- Experience in investment and financial systems administration, implementation and reporting in the capital markets space.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills is essential to dealing with all levels of staff and outside contacts.
- Comprehensive understanding of middle and back-office processes and technical applications.
- Competence with database report writers and Windows-based software with a strong proficiency in Excel.
- An understanding of the accounting and performance reporting requirements will be an asset to this position.
- Proficiency with systems being utilized for the Investment business (Snowflake, Golden Source, SimCorp Dimension, and Bloomberg)
- This position requires a technically inclined individual who is a self-starter and highly motivated to manage financial data / systems in an integrated environment.
- Demonstrated ability for independent study.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Able to maintain quality on routine and repetitive tasks.
- Experience with Business Intelligence software an asset (e.g. Power BI).
