Reporting to the Supervisor, Infrastructure and Networking
The incumbent will
- Prepare and present technical designs, implement, configure, secure, and maintain hybrid Regional infrastructure across on-premises datacenters and cloud services (Azure IaaS / PaaS) to meet availability and performance objectives
- Monitor performance, capacity, and availability using monitoring platforms to detect, analyze, and resolve infrastructure problems, and provide root-cause analysis
- Administer Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft 365 (including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) to ensure secure, consistent, and reliable service delivery for both office and remote users
- Manage endpoint and mobile device management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager) for Windows, Android, and iOS, define device compliance, configuration profiles, and application lifecycle policies that enforce Zero Trust security
- Plan, deploy, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server (2012-2025) in both physical and virtual environments (VMware vSphere / Hyper‑V), including clustering, integration with storage area networks, and patching
- Maintain user accounts and identities, role‑based access controls, access to network and cloud resources, and email services; implement MFA, Conditional Access, and privileged access controls (e.g., PIM)
- Install software and hardware; perform configuration changes to enhance service, capacity, security posture, and financial efficiency; follow change control and documentation standards
- Research and recommend technical solutions that address business requirements, including optimization, standardization, and automation
- Ensure timely and effective customer service, communicate status updates on incidents, problems, and requests, ensure resolution and knowledge capture for SLO improvement
- Provide frequent subject matter expertise to projects on infrastructure best practices; liaise with the project manager and team on scope, deliverables, timelines, risk, and change to ensure on‑time and on‑scope delivery
- Assume a leadership role on assigned initiatives, engage stakeholders to confirm requirements; maintain accurate and up‑to‑date project plans, runbooks, and diagrams, present status updates and risks; elevate blockers in a timely manner
- Operate and improve enterprise backup / restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities with defined RPO / RTO; conduct recovery testing and maintain documented runbooks
- Automate operational tasks and repeatable changes using PowerShell and, where applicable, Infrastructure as Code patterns
- Maintain accurate configuration and asset records, standards, operating procedures, and architecture diagrams
The successful applicant will possess
A 3 year diploma in a technology related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experienceAn ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management is considered an assetSeveral years' experience maintaining Microsoft Windows Server (2012‑2025) and Windows 10 / 11 operating systems in hybrid environmentsExperience with enterprise backup and recovery, email and collaboration platforms, physical servers, virtualization, and storage area networks, familiarity with DR planning and recovery validationProven proficiency administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including Conditional Access, MFA, and role-based access controlsProgressive experience administering endpoint and mobile device management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager) supporting Windows, Android, and iOS devices with compliance and configuration policiesDemonstrated proficiency managing VMware vSphere / vCenter and / or Microsoft Hyper‑V virtualization, with storage integrations (SAN / NAS), clustering, and lifecycle managementDemonstrated proficiency maintaining Active Directory, certificates / PKI, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Windows security baselines, and Terminal Services / Remote Desktop ServicesStrong PowerShell scripting skills; familiarity with Azure CLI and modern automation patterns; ability to create and maintain repeatable runbooksA comprehensive understanding of creating and maintaining technical documentation and project artifacts using Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project; experience with modern collaboration / project tools is an assetStrong customer focus, professionalism, effective communication and troubleshooting skills and the ability to work across teams and with vendorsProven project management and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, manage competing deadlines, and deliver outcomes in ITIL‑aligned environmentsDemonstrated ability to assess application and infrastructure performance using monitoring and service management tools and ability to conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actionsA valid Ontario driver's license and use of a vehicle and ability to participate in an on‑call rotation and scheduled maintenance windowsSkills in applying inclusive practices in collaboration and service deliveryCUPE 1764 Salary Grade 7
This position is with Salary Grade 7 and will be paid at the following hourly rates :
