Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who likes intellectually challenging work in a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and creativity.

In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and processing applications related to natural gas facilities, natural gas franchises and certificates, natural gas rates and natural gas supply matters.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and manages the processing of applications related to natural gas franchises and certificates, natural gas rates and / or leave to construct of natural gas pipelines.
• Identifies relevant issues with assigned applications and provides analysis and advice to internal and external stakeholders on topics that may vary depending on the skill sets of the Analyst and that may include finance, accounting, economics, regulatory policy, engineering, system planning, and gas supply.
• Collaborates and coordinates with groups and individuals internal and external to the OEB, including, but not limited to, subject matter experts, the OEB’s legal department, Commissioners, and intervenors.
• Assists in the settlement of issues with applications and other stakeholders, develops interrogatories and participates in technical conference questioning, prepares briefing notes, staff submissions and cross examinations in preparation for public hearing.
• Monitors the energy and regulatory policy environment including legislation and regulations.
• Represents the organization in external forums and venues.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or other related field.
• 1+ years’ experience in the energy sector, with preferred experience in natural gas regulation.
• Previous experience with adjudicative procedures (e.g., notices, procedural orders, decisions, oral hearing schedules) is an asset.
• Proven track record to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities at once.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills that cater to all levels in an organization.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, prioritizing, problem solving and time management skills.
