REPORTS TO : Director of Planning LOCATION : Initial Placement- Paris Customer Service Office Minimum Qualifications : Post-secondary education in planning or a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum five years related experience in land use planning, preferably in a municipal planning setting A strong understanding of the planning processes under the Planning Act, The Provincial Policy Statement and other relevant Provincial Policy Familiarity with the OLT processes and procedures, including attending hearings, preparing witness statements, and assisting Corporate Counsel with relevant subject matter expertise to facilitate settlement Knowledge of municipal development planning process and project management skills Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with the public, staff, and Council Effective financial management skills, able to set long-term budgetary goals Proven analytical ability and solutions-oriented Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbal Valid Class G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required.
Assets : Membership in OPPI / CIP would be considered an asset Duties : Responsible for policy analysis and to p articipate in developing and implementing goals, objectives, and priorities Recommend and administer policies, processes and procedures Manage assigned projects including research, policy analysis and formulation, and review analysis using professional judgement ensuring compliance within the requirements of affected agencies, planning principles, and interpretation of Provincial and County land use policies and regulations Provide leadership, coaching and motivation to the planning team to achieve corporate and department objectives, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for policy staff Assist in growth management, policy study projects, area studies, Official Plan amendments, and Zoning By-law amendments Comment on development applications in the context of the County’s Official Plan Review of existing planning procedures and processes to foster continuous improvement Create the data sets needed to support and update the County’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law schedules Effectively manage both operational and capital budgets including ongoing management and budget development, and oversee and direct long-range plans Act as the County’s representative on advisory committees as needed Act as a resource for staff, Council, and the public regarding planning policies Attend Council and Committee meetings as needed to represent the Development Services Department on planning interests of the County Prepare planning studies and reports and present to Council or Committee as needed Represent the Planning Department at the OLT as needed Annual Salary Range : $100,628 to $117,718 (Job Grade 10 under review) - 35 hours per week, flexibility as may be required The application deadline is 11 : 59 p.
