About the role
Bold is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead initiatives and grow our technical teams with a focus on achieving company goals.
The ideal candidate will foster clear communication, teamwork, and leadership development across multiple app teams. You'll bring your technical expertise to guide and support our engineering department, creating an innovative environment where teams have the tools they need to excel.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with the Product Team to understand the vision and strategy, and help develop the product roadmap.
- Communicate strategic context and priorities to delivery teams.
- Ensure continuous delivery of value by removing roadblocks and supporting development teams.
- Be accountable for software quality, reliability, and performance.
- Focus on individual development by setting clear expectations, enabling responsibility, and fostering accountability.
- Conduct regular 1 : 1s and check-ins, contributing to a culture of continuous feedback.
- Grow and develop the team by identifying learning opportunities and promoting collective growth.
- Contribute to lean software development practices through hands-on coaching and training.
- Lead technical initiatives, including architecture and design reviews, with leaders and individual contributors.
- Collaborate with People Operations on recruitment strategies, interviewing, and hiring developers.
- Develop and implement onboarding programs to maximize new hire effectiveness.
- Communicate key changes and concepts across the Engineering Team.
- Oversee and manage the team's on-call rotations, ensuring long-term solutions for production incidents.
- Carry out additional management and leadership duties as assigned by the VP, Engineering Technology.
What we're looking for
- Experienced developers, architects, or software engineers with a background in team management and leadership.
- A leader unafraid to provide feedback, speak up, and hold teams accountable.
- Proven track record of building and growing teams through continuous recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training.
- E-commerce experience, especially with checkout products (preferred but not required).
- Expertise in continuous delivery, agile processes, SDLC, Kanban, and fostering collaborative cultures and teams.
- Experience with, or interest in, PHP, Laravel, Go, JavaScript, and React.
- 5+ years as a technical leader, manager, or advisor.
- Skilled in coaching developers through code reviews and pair programming.
