Product Designer

Our client, who is one of Canada's largest financial services organizations is hiring a Senior Product Designer.

This is a full-time contract for a minimum of 12 months in duration and with the idea to convert to full-time permanent.

The team works 3 days in the office (Toronto).

Position Purpose :

Responsible for leading digital product design and will be working with a team to design, build, and launch an industry-leading new business banking portal for large and small business clients.

Ideal Candidate :

• Seasoned digital product designer with advanced skills in visual design, specifically user interface / information design (as opposed to marketing websites)
• Preferred : Previous experience in business banking (or other FI experience) and / or working within a large matrixed organizations

Key Accountabilities :

• Collaborate with a team of designers, product owners, developers, analysts, and architects to build experiences that meet both user and business needs
• Responsible for the visual design of the work at hand, establishing visual hierarchies so that uses can engage more easily with our digital products.
• Lead the identification of the design problem to be solved,
• Explore ways to create a more cohesive experience and enhance usability
• Rationalize solutions and effectively communicate ideas and designs-
• Act as a strategic partner to the Product Owner, Business Analyst and other stakeholders to identify requirements and frame them from a user experience perspective.
• Facilitate collaboration sessions with stakeholders and peers

Knowledge & Experience :

• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Expert understanding of core design principles rated to typography, grid systems, visual hierarchy, colour systems, white space, etc.
• Strong understanding of CSS and Atomic design
• BA / BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial) or a related field or equivalent experience)
• Nice to have : Experience in business banking (or other FI experience) and / or working within a large matrixed organizations

Skills & Competencies :

• Ability to design for system-level consistency, and think in terms of components / modules as well as full screens
• Good understanding of designing for accessibility and mobile-responsiveness
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (ability to communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale, stakeholdering)
• Ability to turn complex business and user requirements into user flows that feel simple
• Systems thinking; Ability to use existing design systems and identify new patterns that will augment those systems
• Excellent relationship-building skills and strong collaborator
• Proven experience and success as a digital product designer with strong attention to detail
