About The Role
We are seeking a Structural Engineer with 5 to 8 years of experience in the design of building structures in steel and reinforced concrete . The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering projects ranging from commercial, institutional, and residential developments to complex renovations and retrofits in the National Capital Region. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technologists, and project managers, contributing both technical expertise and design leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design for building projects in reinforced concrete and structural steel (other materials such as wood or masonry considered an asset).Prepare calculations, design briefs, specifications, and technical reports.Produce and review structural drawings, details, and BIM models in collaboration with technicians and design teams.Coordinate with architects, mechanical / electrical consultants, contractors, and clients.Conduct site visits, structural inspections, and construction‑phase support.Ensure projects comply with applicable codes including the Ontario Building Code (OBC), NBCC, and relevant CSA standards.Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and quality control.Mentor junior engineers and technologists as required.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s an asset).5 to 8 years of experience in building structural design (concrete and steel essential).Licensed as a P.Eng. in Ontario or eligible for registration within a reasonable time frame.Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, RFEM, or equivalent).Strong command of AutoCAD and / or Revit; experience with BIM workflows is an asset.Solid understanding of OBC, NBCC, and CSA design codes (A23.3, S16, etc.).Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.Valid driver’s license and ability to conduct occasional site visits in the region.Assets
Experience with seismic design, heritage structures, or government / institutional projects in Ottawa.Bilingualism (English / French).Experience in construction review or retrofit / rehabilitation projects.Familiarity with project management or client‑facing responsibilities.Build Your Career with Us and Enjoy
