Job Summary / Accountabilities : Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrator
The Worker Compensation Claims Administrator role is responsible for focusing on No Lost time, managing the day-to-day, non-complex, Workers’ Compensation (WC) claims and appeals for ongoing and new clients.
They are involved in the maintenance and development of practices and procedures for claims and disability management services, and they will communicate with key stakeholders in order to manage claims and perform return-to-work planning.
In conjunction with the performance of managing Workers' Compensation claims, a Workers Compensation Claims Administrator also positively represents OSI at meetings and events to communicate with current clients and encourage new clients to learn about OSI.
This role also assists in work collaboratively with our team to provide solution-focused programs for clients.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintenance and development of practices and procedures for internal claims and workers’ compensation claims services
- Prepares reports and agendas
- Case Manager Administrative Tasks - Complete specified administrative tasks on all cases within designated time lines and KPM’s (e.
g. Faxing, forms preparation, claim follow-ups, submissions to workers compensation boards, etc.)
- Explore innovative strategies to reduce duration and increase RTW
- Work collaboratively with employer, employee, MD, and all other stakeholders involved in WC process, to obtain additional information, provide claim status, and create action plans while maintaining confidentiality and privacy
- Escalate complicated claims as per criteria
- Assist with any other administrative duties, as requested
- Bilingual (French / English) is an asset but not required
Minimum Required Skills and Experience :
- Relevant Education or Continuing Education in Health / Sciences, such as : Medical training, Medical Terminology, Occupational Health, Disability Management, or Paralegal continuous education
- Critical thinking skills, analytical reasoning
- High sense of urgency and prioritization skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Able to work as a key member of a team as well as independently.
- Ability to work within set procedure and policy to ensure the privacy protocols and standard operating procedures are adhered to at all times
- Strong proficiency and skills in the Microsoft Office Suites
- Office environment
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasional travel to client locations, when needed
